This is a story about a boy who loves the girl next door. He is shy, yet that doesn't stop him from sharing some chocolate chip cookies with her. They soon become best of friends. However, problems and bullies shove their way in between them causing them to be distant. It is a relatable story about belonging, depression, and how love can change everything.

I'm not one for spoilers, but I will say that this books takes you in one heart-pulling direction and then takes a hard left into a new adventure I did not see coming.... And the telling of the complete tale was written as well as any classic I have read.
I highly recommend this book if you want to meet a big-hearted little boy and follow him as he goes through life's trials of love, loss, and hope.

Scientific research has proven that certain parts of the brain are activated when reading good fiction. I love how active my brain was while reading this book! It was such a sweet story about a boy who loves a girl, and so much more. The author used history and a story of young love to remind us that a lot can happen in a lifetime. We are also reminded that, although mistakes happen, there's no time like the present to "do the right thing".

The Longest Time by Jared Vaughn is a delightful book by an incredibly talented author. The novel reminds me of my childhood when anything was possible, that is, before reality and gravity held me back, and the word "possible" became "unlikely," and then "impossible" due to my age and time. Since reading this fantastic adventure about friendship and love, I've regained a bounce in my step and a twinkle in my eye.
Obviously, I highly recommend this book.

It includes some basic philosophical statements that everyone should be told in their youth as well as some epiphanies that should be part of life in general. This story of life and love could stand as a handbook for behaving in the real world, for how to do the right thing even though the right thing is often the hardest thing to do.
