I am a sophomore in high school and I thoroughly enjoyed both performing as 'Ko-Ko' in the play as well as reading the play in my spare time. It is amazing how such a classic seems to be overlooked by many. 'The Mikado' focuses on and satirizes 1800 England and its people. It is a Japanese play wherein the characters are to mock the British dialect and use large and clumsy vocabulary (being that they're Japanese, this brings about the humor). It is a play that anyone of any age will enjoy (with an unabridged dictionary and history book nearby).
