About the Author
Lynn Rossy, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist at the University of Missouri’s wellness program for faculty and staff. She developed Eat for Life, a mindfulness-based intuitive eating program that successfully helps people overcome eating issues, improve body image, and enhance weight loss. She is on the board of directors of The Center for Mindful Eating.

This is a well-thought out, intelligent book on the hows and whys of eating mindfully. Dr. Lynn Rossy does not gloss over the challenges of mindful eating. She presents many reasons as to what may be REALLY causing your problems in your relationship with food, and most interestingly, it may not have anything to do with food at all, which, in my journey, is turning out to be the case. I have also taken her on-line classes that compliment this book, and between her support and the support of my fellow classmates, I feel much more at ease with myself and accepting of where I am on this path to mindful eating. Dr. Rossy is a REAL, GENUINE person, not full of hype, quick answers, and false promises. Her voice shines through in her book. I highly recommend this book (plus her classes)!!

What a wonderful way to learn about mindful eating. Lynn Rossy offers an engaging way to explore the non-dieting, mindful eating concept in a clear, logical and evidence-based way that is sure to remove any doubt you may have about changing your eating. Written with honesty, common sense, and humor, Lynn provides an essential plan that covers the BASICS! And when I say basics, I mean: Breathe, Assess your food, Slow down Investigate your hunger, Chew, & Savor! Each chapter offers a terrific 2-page summary of the challenge you face, the "good news" and what you can do now! After reading Lynn's book, I walked over to my family and said, "Read this! It explains mindful eating in a way I think you can finally understand!" It was a privilege to read her work. Lynn is such a fun, wise and authentic person, her brilliance is clearly evident throughout this book!
What makes this book revolutionary is that it gives us simple tools for waking up to our self defeating habits with food and eating. It's geared towards developing wisdom and increasing the pleasure of nourishing your body instead of the tired old approaches to weight loss through denying yourself...which NEVER work in the long run. I feel empowered by this approach because it taps into the roots of my relationship with eating. So far the results have been delicious!
