This is a heart wrenching story I just bawled and read it in a day.  I have read a number of Her books and most of the stories are horrific.  Makes my childhood look great. Being a foster parent would be so difficult kudos to her.  Highly recommend but Sorry Cathy I find you somewhat smug though.

I don't often cry reading books, but I did during this one. It's a story about a little boy who had lost his mother before he knew her and is about to lose his father to cancer. Also, the foster mother rather falls in love with the dying dad. The poor little boy hears his dad's spirit the day his dad dies. It's a sweet, sad book.
