An amazing true story. Amanda Winn Lee speaks with an open honesty and casual obscenity that instantly makes her relatable to anyone who's ever had the sleepless honor of being a parent. When faced with an unthinkable diagnosis for her infant son, she enters "Battle Mode". A mindset so determined as to allow her to push aside the horror that would reduce so many others to a sobbing idiot in the corner, and do what needs to be done. As a parent, I've had to put down this book a few times because of the intensity. Then I remind myself that I'm just reading this, she had to live through it. It's astounding to go through the story from Amanda's point of view as she navigates the unthinkable, keeping her absurd sense of humor intact, and watches as her son literally turns death into a fighting chance to live.

Amanda Winn Lee has crafted a touching and true memoir of her son Nicholas (Noodle). Along with her husband Jason, the three bravely battled Little Nicholas' cancer in his first year of life. Against the odds, they emerged victorious. Their tale is related with humanity, raw honesty, courage, and even some surprising humor. This is an inspiring book for anyone facing or helping someone face the adversity. You CAN do it. Noodle did.
