The Other Side, Melinda's Story I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I must admit I've never been a fan of psychological thrillers, but Starr Gardinier's story drew me in on the first page and held my attention to the end. Her style and tone created a prison within the heroine's mind with her first person, present tense POV presentation, throwing in just enough memories to validate her apparitions. My mind reminisced reading Veronica Roth's Divergent, though Gardinier's story was wildly different focusing on paranormal/ghostly intrigue. Is Melinda insane, a murderer, stuck in the past? Or can she communicate with others beyond the grave? After living the last nine years in a mental institution, she isn't sure––and neither is the reader. Melinda needs to remember what happened so she can live a normal life on the outside. She needs help, but she can't trust anyone, especially herself. Don't miss this enthralling, creative story.
