This is the most poignant and beautiful love story I have read in a long time. It was on my TBR list for a while, but knowing it was a tear-jerker, I kept putting it off. I finally decided I was ready for it and I balled my eyes out. I'm not saying that to dissuade you, but rather to brace you. You don't have to be into BDSM or erotica books to fall in love with The Reluctant Dom. This story is really about how much love there can be between people. A man for his wife. A man for his friend. This story tells of how far people can go to help those they love... Unconditionally. If everyone were lucky enough to be loved by only one person with the depth that these characters feel for each other the world would be a happy place. I set this book aside a stronger person than when I picked it up because I learned some valuable lessons. I hope you do as well.

The reluctant dom is one of the Best books I've read in a long time. Nothing like what I expected. It made me smile and laugh. It riped my heart out. You have to really read it to understand. I Will be buying more from Tymber Dalton.

This book is so much more than just erotic fiction to me. I can honestly say that I have never read a book where the characters have captured my heart like this. I felt truly emotionally connected to them, and I cried so much for the pain each of them were facing. The subject matter of cancer is very personal to me, but I have never had a book make me cry the way this one did. What this boils down to is that the writer has done an amazing job with this book, and I highly encourage people to read it.

The Reluctant Dom is the 4th book in Tymber Dalton's Suncoast Society series. This is Kaden's, Seth's & Leah's story. Kaden & Seth have known each other for over 40 years. They're not only best friends; they're more like brothers. Seth has always felt slightly inferior to Kaden who's brilliant, full of kindness & has no problems navigating social situations. But none of that matters to Kaden. Seth is the one person who's always been there for him. He loves him unconditionally. After high school, Kaden headed for college while Seth went into basic training in the Army. Before they parted ways, however, one night, after killing a bottle of tequila together, Kaden & Seth experienced an incredible one-time three-way with a very willing co-ed. Neither has forgotten that night but they've also never really talked about it since then either. Seth's returned home. He's been through three wives & a construction business that was successful for a while. He's not destitute but he's also not rich. After divorce #3, he's living with his brother, Ben, & going back to school to get a nursing degree as he was a medic in the Army. But, overall, he's happy with his life. While Seth was in the Army, Kaden went on to finish college & law school. He's now an incredibly successful attorney with a beautiful wife, Leah. They have a beautiful home, built by Seth's company during his construction career & they couldn't be happier. When Kaden asks Seth to lunch one day, he drops a bombshell. He's dying of pancreatic cancer. Seth's not just in shock. He's traumatized. At first, he thinks it's one of Kaden's famous practical jokes. But he soon realizes Kaden is very serious & his friend has a year, maybe two, left before he's gone. Seth tries everything to deny it. Has Kaden gotten a second opinion? Yeah, this was the third opinion. Surely there's some sort of treatment, maybe an experimental one, that he can try. But Kaden refuses to do anything that will diminish the quality of life that he has remaining. There's literally nothing that can be done. Seth is devastated beyond belief. The real problem comes when Kaden has to tell Leah. What no one but Kaden & Leah know is that Leah has a troubled & abusive past. They've been married for over 20 years & to all outward appearances, they are happy & have no problems. Kaden & Leah have secrets no one else can possibly guess. Kaden needs Seth's help, not only to break the news to Leah but to help her through the coming months, the illness, his death & the aftermath. Seth is horrified. He doesn't see how he can make any difference. But Kaden is his brother. He'll do whatever he can to help both of his best friends. What Seth soon learns is that both Kaden & Leah are kinky, a part of the local BDSM scene. They are actually founding members of the local BDSM club, Venture. Seth knows absolutely nothing about kink or BDSM. When Kaden springs his other surprise on Seth, that he wants Seth to learn about BDSM from Kaden & Leah & become the third in their relationship, Seth is dumbfounded! Yes, he's always been attracted to & more than a little in love with Leah. One of his ex-wives was the spitting image of Leah. But to intrude on his best friends' marriage & become a part of it while Kaden is dying? It's unthinkable! To me, this is Ms. Dalton's best book & that's saying something. It's a roller coaster of emotions & you'll absolutely adore it! I give it my highest recommendation! Thanks for reading my review! Happy reading!

I am blown away by this book. Absolutely love it. I am going to be rereading it and it may become one of my comfort reads. It is beautiful, sad, loving, grieving, happy and bits of humor are sprinkled in. There is the soul deep bond of loving friendship between Kaden and Seth and the love between them and Leah. This is a beautiful, emotional story.

This is a book that I have a love/hate relationship with. I love it because it's a powerful story of love and how love can heal. But it's also about death. The death of a main character is hard to write about and I can't even imagine how Tymber got through this. Kaden is married to Leah. He provides her with the pain she needs to help her emotionally. Leah has a horrible past and Kaden provides her with the relief she needs to not hurt herself. When he finds out he is dying, he knows that he can't leave Leah by herself so he talks his best friend, Seth into becoming a Dom to help Leah after he's gone. Seth has been in love with Leah for years but hasn't let anyone know. Now he is doing things that he never dreamed he would have to do to keep Leah "safe" after Kaden passes. It's a story of love, trust, pain and yes, happiness! I always have tissue close by when I read this book and it always tears me up because I know what is going to happen but it's still such a good book. Highly recommend this book.

I swear, this book should be titled The Reluctant Reader, except that would be a lousy title for a book! Everyone who gave this book a 5 star review, as I did, felt the same way about it . . . they had had it for awhile, but were reluctant to read it! But so glad we did! I love this book, although it took several days for me to get the emotional distance I needed to be able to write about it. I truly cannot add anything more to the other 5 star reviews, they say it all, and better. My own personal experience was: I had to take a number of breaks from the book, I found it so intense, so well written that I would be on emotional overload! Not crying, but just so sad. I just 'fell in love' with Kaden. Even though he is not the central character, he was for me. As I told Ms. Dalton, even though I knew what would happen I found myself continually hoping that a miracle would take place and he would live. And, good Lord, after he dies there is even more to love about him! The insight that Ms. Dalton gives to the BDSM experience, both to sub & Doms, and their feelings & reasons has really broadened & helped me to be more understanding & accepting, not only of 'sadists' & 'masochists' but of my own feelings. I would so recommend her books, & will certainly be reading more of them. Although I hope no more 'grab me by the throat' like this one did, I am not that much of a masochist!

Once I got into the Reluctant Dom I Never thought I would get through 879 pages that quickly. But I would do it all over again. This is truly awe inspiring. It's emotional,it's gripping, sometimes it's a total find F## cause you can't deal. But oh my gosh!!!! I'm just going to end with this is a freaking GREAT book and a must read

As someone who is not into the BDSM lifesyle, this book opened my eyes and gave me insight and understanding into that world. Truely a wonderful story that is both heart-warming and heart-breaking. The only thing I would change about this book is the cover picture, the current cover seems to cheapen the rich story inside. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good and HOT love story, and only warn potential readers to be prepared to be completely engulfed by emotion as the story unfolds. Also, being able to get the story in one book and not left hanging while another book is written was nice. This was truely a novel at almost 900 pages and well worth the money.

I read this book a couple years ago and I don't know why I never wrote a review. This is one of the best if not the best BDSM books I've ever read. Not to mention the most emotional book I've read. I'm crying just trying to type this. The eventual loss of Kaden, Leah & Seth must endure is excruciating painful. Not to mention Leah's past she has to live with every day make this part of life hell! Losing your best friend and loving his wife were hard enough to accept but when Kaden wants Seth to take over as her Dom? Not sure he can do it but will put everything into it because he loves them both. I knew picking up this book that Kaden was going to die. I cried from the first sentence until-well now! Excellently written and the BDSM portrayed was spot on. Not all in the lifestyle need it like Leah but some do. I would recommend reading all the books in The Suncoast Society.

This book was more story than sex. I guess it would depend on what you were looking for. I enjoyed it and read it in less than 24 hours. If you're the type that can emotionally attach to characters in a book, prepare yourself for tears!

Just an amazing book. I kept it together for the first three quarters and then I was sobbing so much I nearly dehydrated. I was warned that I would need a box of tissues and now I forward the warning. This books has it all...humor, erotica, BDSM, romance, menage, kink, heartbreak and heart-warmth. Due to the extent of emotion this book draws of you it is a real page turner. I am so glad I allowed myself to moved by the former reviews and read this. Some reviewers commented on the female character, Leah as exhausting but although she is does not have a strong personality she is flawed and this makes the book believable. I LOVED THIS BOOK, A must read.

Love this book! Have read it 2 times now, and it continues to get better. You can truly relate to the characters. Tissues needed, but so worth it! Nice to read a book of this genre and not feel like it was another FSOG. Different was wonderful!

This book shows what true love and friendship are all about. I have never cried reading a book like I did with this one. It is a powerful story....and that doesn't include the sex scenes. We should all be so lucky to find this kind of love and friendship in our lifetime. Hoping there is a story on Tony next.

This book had me in tears throughout the whole thing. This book is all about unconditional love for the love of his life and his best friend. I recommend that everyone with a heart read this book. Those without one? May very well find a heart thanks to this book.

I'm not even sure I can really review this book and do it justice. I LOVED this book more than I can even say. Love that transcends the bounds of society's traditions. Enduring friendship and love even in death. The most beautiful love story I have ever read. Hands down. BOX of Kleenex required
