Overview

When I saw Nina Astor, I had to have her.
Blonde bombshell.
Park Avenue princess.
She was pure as snow and giving me one night to dirty her up.

But by morning, I knew:
She wasn't just a pretty face.
She wasn't just a casual fling.

One night?
Please.
I needed a lifetime.

Then I discover:
Nina Astor isn't who she says she is.
She's beyond off-limits.

The real problem? I couldn't care less.

About the Author

Nicole French is a lifelong dreamer, low-key fashion addict, and total bookworm. When not writing fiction or secretly reading gossip columns, she is hanging out with her family or going on dates with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to go running or practice the piano, but never seems to do either one of these things as much as she should.

The Scarlet Night is a promising start to the Rose Gold series that will leave you anxiously wanting for more. We met Mathew Zola in the Quicksilver series, as he helped Jane find her biological father. While that series has ended, this book overlaps with Jane’s story at least for now. As a prosecutor working for the Brooklyn District’s attorney, Mathew Zola is good at what he does and is happy to be able to help his sisters. But behind his prosecutor facade, he is not alway part of the good guys. It is at a bar that he meets, Nina and the two hit it off right away. The exchange stories about their childhoods and he quickly realizes how different their worlds. While he had worked his way to where he is now, Nina is a rich socialite who seems to be hiding something from him. Yet, it’s after their steamy night together that secrets are revealed and he has to find a way to make her see that they might just belong together. I cannot wait to read what happens next! I loved the Quicksilver series and I have high hopes for this story to be just as good. Although this novella was short, it gave us a peek into their world and of the challenges that they will have to face later in the series. It’s the prefect introduction and would highly recommend checking it out as well as the other series by the author. You will not regret it. :) **I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

What a wonderful beginning to the next set of books to begin the Rose Gold series; characters we have met before are back in their own books - hopefully we get to see previous beloved characters as the stories move on. This book with Matthew Zola and Nina, the chemistry between the two, amazing and hot, was just a fabulous teaser of what looks like a series I can't wait to continue reading.

An uneasiness has wrapped itself around Matthew Zola. One that has him out late trying to free himself of it. Luck (or maybe it’s bad luck...only time will tell) has him crossing paths with Nina. She beautiful but possibly dangerous. It’s apparent Nina has many secrets but Matthew is drawn to her. He’s determined to discover everything about Nina and claim her as his own. There’s definitely a lot passion and chemistry between the two but there’s quite a few obstacles it looks like they’ll need to overcome first. I like Matthew and it would be nice to see him find happiness. The Scarlet Night is an intriguing beginning. It’s captured my attention and I’m curious to see where Matthew and Nina’s story will go.

I have been waiting for Zola's story for forever now, it seems! I knew that he had to have one and I couldn't wait to read it. Needless to say, I am so excited for this Rose Gold series. The Scarlet Night was just perfection. I couldn't put it down from the moment that I picked it up. I love seeing how Ms. French's worlds collide and I can't wait to find out exactly who Nina is!

This author just doesn't play fair. We knew Zola had a past and a pretty intense one. Although he seems unlucky in love he does turn out to be a really good guy. This is the night when he meets his match. Tired of the same old thing, same old people, same old women he heads to the other side of town where he can just have some peace. The sought after peace ends up being Nina. All they can have is this one night. One night of friendship pretending the world doesn't exist. One night of passion. One night that turns his life upside down and inside out. She was everything he ever dreamed of but was afraid to want. One night. It wasn't enough. He wanted more. She couldn't give it. But he wasn't ready to accept that their one night is all there would ever be. This is their beginning. It could also be their end. But if Zola had anything to do with it it wouldn't be their last. This isn't a standalone read, although it doesn't have a cliff-hanger so to speak it is part of a new series. It's a steamy read about a night that ends in passion neither have experienced and he doesn't want to end.

For anyone who's wanted in Matthew Zola's head since he made his first appearance in Legally Yours, this is the beginning! Such an enjoyable read, just like every Nicole French book. You want to know everything there is to know about her characters.
