Overview

340 years have passed since the Deluge. It is a time of conflict between followers of the Sumerian gods and believers in Yahweh, the one Creator. Against this tense backdrop, a remote island colony of Enki cultists is shaken by the arrival of a strange young woman. Liwa, a believer in Yahweh and a runaway from the brutal quarries, seeks the little brother she was forced to abandon. Island fisherman Kalib joins her to search the mainland, once called the Fertile Plain but stripped to its bones by the greatest building project the world has ever known. As Kalib and Liwa venture through the lawless dusty land, they draw closer to Nimrod's tower, symbol of the mighty king's obsession with immortality and his ladder to heaven.
