Charles Guiteau, best-known for being the assassin whose bullet led to the death of President James A. Garfield in 1881, had, prior to that occasion, written a book on the second coming of Jesus Christ, called "The Truth." It is said that he plagiarized most of the material from Noyes, but that it also expressed Guiteau's theological beliefs isn't denied.
