It's been four years since twenty-eight-year old Alicia Black, daughter of Reverend Curtis Black, divorced her second husband, the most womanizing and corrupt man she has ever known. Since then, Alicia has been dating her first husband, Phillip Sullivan, a wonderfully kind and true man of God whom she'd hurt terribly by cheating on him. Alicia has worked hard to prove herself worthy of his trust once more, and when he asks her to marry him again, she couldn't be happier.

But Levi Cunningham, the drug dealer Alicia had an extramarital affair with, has just been released from prison, and he has completely turned his life around for the better. Still head-over-heels in love with Alicia, he will do whatever is necessary to win her back. Remarrying Phillip is the one thing Alicia has wanted for years, but she can't get Levi out of her mind.

Alicia and Phillip aren't the only ones in the middle of a crisis. Their best friends, husband and wife Brad and Melanie Richardson, are struggling to keep their marriage together. Workaholic Brad is never home and has begun losing thousands on bad investments. Or so he says. Melanie, who is certain there's more to the story, is determined to get at the truth. At the same time, her frustration and stress cause her to eat a lot less, and she behaves in an extreme fashion. Alicia worries that she could be suffering from anorexia, but Melanie steadfastly denies it. Their friendship begins to suffer, and it isn't long before they're talking to each other like enemies.

Fresh betrayal leads to consequences no one saw coming, and Alicia's relationship with Phillip might not be the only thing that needs saving. But is it already too late?

When you betray someones trust you are walking a line that you may never regain. If you are granted that luxury of being trusted once again you should do everything in your power to stay in that person good graces. But we all know that there are people out there who will take advantage of the grace that they have been given and mess up again and again until there is no more trust left. How do you break this cycle and get people to trust you or will you ever be able to be trusted by anyone again? Alicia Black has had some bad days and she have had some better days that is for sure, but life seems to be getting better since her and her ex-husband Phillip Sullivan are getting re-married. Alicia has been praying for this since realizing her mistake and she vows that she will do the right thing this time. Alicia is excited about the opportunity to get a second chance to build a life with Phillip and she can't wait to be his wife but he is making her wait for the perks of being is wife. That simple task she knows is the right thing to do but it makes her vulnerable to suggestion from sources that are not in her best interest. As if on que, Alicia's past comes back to haunt her and as much as she tries it is a struggle of good and evil. What is Alicia to do and how will Alicia cope with this outside pressure? The Ultimate Betrayal is book number 12 in the Curtis Black series. While it is more focused on Curtis daughter Alicia, he does make appearances in the book. The dialogue between family members and friends in this book make it seem more like real life than reading a book and because there are so many books in this series you know everyone involved so you are absolutely talking to the characters while you are reading. It is a very easy read because you are familiar with the characters but it is in no way predictable. Roby keeps you on your toes with this family and their situations and circumstances and that is what keeps this series going. There is NEVER a dull moment. I always look forward to the next chapter and I hope that this series never ends. The characters could have stand alone books and still hold your attention because they are just that strong. Kudos to Roby on yet another great novel!
