I have only read one or two Western books in my life, and normally I am rather disenchanted. Give me an old-fashioned frontier romance, and I am glued to it. But a Western? Modern-day? All I can say is Rionna Morgan has crafted a fantastic Western romance that is filled with a fast-paced story and even a bit of mystery, intrigue, and danger. I was mesmerized and chilled by this book, and I almost struggled to put it down. I definitely connected with the characters and story! There were a couple things I did not like. There is profanity throughout, and I did not feel it was always necessary. I would have preferred there being no bedroom scene, but at least it was not overly descriptive. I just wish that the characters had continued to wait until marriage. Normally, I don't go for a sappy romance, but this had just the right amount. And the villain was unbelievable. I was tipped off, but when the truth was revealed, I was dumbfounded! Suddenly, the author's italicized words at the end of the first few chapters made sense. No spoilers--go read it yourself! If you are looking for a romantic mystery with passion and action, this is the book for you. It is a quick read, and I look forward to reading other Westerns if they are all this good! I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are 100 percent mine, and I was not financially compensated.

Abandoned by her boyfriend, cowgirl Katherine forges ahead with her life regardless of her hurt, surround by supportive friends and her love of the competitive world of barrel ridding. When a handsome, wealthy man swoops in out to nowhere to woo her, Katherine is literally swept away, just as her former boyfriend, Blake, comes back to town. He hopes to make amends, but can barely find an opportunity to speak with her as she enjoys her new jet-set lifestyle. When terror and tragedy abruptly enter Katherine’s life, everyone rallies to help her, but does everyone have her best interests at heart? Only time, and trust, will tell. The story is fast-paced and entertaining, the barrel riding world richly portrayed. Well done. I purchased this book online and have given this review freely and without monetary compensation.

I admit, I grabbed this book because it had a cowgirl in it, barrel racing/rodeo details, and a serial killer. :) It was a bit shorter than what I'm used to for Romantic Suspense, but the book moved along nicely and had a great cast of characters. The serial killer didn't quite make me shiver, but I wanted to scratch the jerk's eyes out and then stab him a few times. How Kate gets her just desserts with him is one for the books. Bravo! Rionna Morgan did a wonderful job with the rodeo scenes, took me right back there again. I look forward to her next one.

The Wanting Heart, by Rionna Morgan: The Wanting Heart is a lovely story. Kate is a beautiful young woman who competes in rodeos. Blake broke her heart years ago, but he’s back, and so are her unwanted feelings for him. Luke is sophisticated and handsome, and he takes her out. They have a great time. Then something happens… The story turns suspenseful, filled with danger. Luke is not who he appears to be. This is a tale filled with lots of action and excitement. The writing is descriptive and at times poetic with plenty of charm. The rodeo/Western scenes are so realistic, a reader feels pulled into this world. With danger, the pace quickens and doesn’t let up until the end. I recommend this story for those who love modern-day romances with a Western bent.

THE WANTING HEART is one of those books you look forward to curling up with after a long day at the office. I could not wait to find out if Blake won Kate's love or if they were just two hearts passing in the night. And then to throw evil Luke in the mix, writer Morgan knows how to keep readers on their toes. A sense of family, friendship, love and a villain that threatens to destroy it all, THE WANTING HEART is worth reading well into the wee hours of the night.
