This story is 200 pages on my Nook, and has enough plot to fill about a quarter of that. The rest is over-written filler. It's awkward, with too many adjectives, with unnatural dialogue, with contrived similes that are trying too hard, and altogether too much explaining and not enough actually happening. The 200+ year old werewolf keeps sobbing and tearing up, both characters are deeply hurt by fairly inoffensive comments, and to provide external conflict the author reaches for the tool used far too often by weak M/M authors: the irrational, shrieking caricature of a jealous woman. The story is a whole lot of writing like this: "Fear gripped Kris with sharp nails as the prospect of being left to fend for himself with Rafe burned at his confidence as though it were made of something flammable." Overall, it was a pretty tedious read.
