The Zero Chip, second book in the Guardian Angel Trilogy, takes place in the year 2034. The world is very different from the one we know. The infrastructure of the United States has been severely damaged by a major geophysical event, the Shift, and we longer play a role in either world politics or the global economy. The only leverage the United States has to assure its own survival is the Guardian Angel satellite laser weapons system controlled by aiming aircraft, called "Lasetracks," that the US has stationed throughout ECM countries and Israel to support their defense against the League of Islamic States (LIS).
The destructive power of the Guardians is of nuclear proportions and the US has claimed that these laser weapons CAN NOT FAIL because of the use of the Zero Chip processors used in the satellites. These chips have the unique capability to process data at speeds in excess of the speed of light, allowing them to "see" and correct their own failures before they take place! This makes them virtually incapable of malfunctioning! These weapons are unstoppable and will be forever! Or, so the world has been told.
As the story begins... the LIS has embarked on yet one more war with Israel, the ECM and Russia; the ECM's alliance with Russia has become unstable; and the Zero Chips are beginning to fail!
