Maureen Brumby was born in Birmingham, England in 1965. She began writing poetry in 1981 with her first piece ‘Smoky Zones’. She was employed as a secretary until 1992 when she married her husband Neil, their only daughter, Susannah being born later that year. This Loss was conceived during a heartbreaking year of separation from the writer’s husband in 1995.
