JOHAN AUGUST STRINDBERG [1849-1912] was a Swedish playwright (58 plays) and novelist. His plays are often compared with those of Henrik Ibsen. The Red Room (1879) was his first succesful novel. He was also involved with telegraphy, photography, painting, chemistry, and the paranormal.
