Overview

Gritty. Fast-paced. Compelling.

As the newest murder squad recruit for Mildenheath CID, DS Wendy Knight knows that she will face the unthinkable, but what she does not anticipate is that a sadistic killer may be too close for comfort.

When a known prostitute is found dead, Wendy is assigned to the case. Solving it means that she will have to outwit and outsmart an elusive serial killer. As her investigation unfolds, so too does a sinister plot that will turn her world upside down and make it increasingly difficult to distinguish friend from foe in her tightknit world.

Could the murderer be hiding in plain sight?

Will the answers she seeks be more than she can bear?

Too Close for Comfort is a gripping, exhilarating crime thriller for fans of Peter James, Mark Billingham and Iain Rankin.

Editorial Reviews

This book makes for a truly great read. The characters of Knight and Culverhouse keep you riveted as they try to solve a murder mystery which will keep you guessing until the very end. They are gritty, real to life characters which the story allows you to feel close to, then takes you in another direction altogether with its witty one-liners and dark humour. I love how this story kept me gripped, especially the gruelling twist, which you won't see coming. I can't recommend this enough.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The dynamic between the central characters of Knight and Culverhouse is great, and there's a good cast of supporting characters that really add to the depth of the story. The plot is fast-paced and packed with action, including a killer twist at the end I genuinely didn't see coming. Great stuff.
Emma Rhodes
A top thriller in the British crime style. A twist at the end that will knock your socks off (honestly didn't see that one coming!) and plenty of humor sprinkled throughout. A thoroughly enjoyable read!
Doris Lewis
Great book. Held my attention. Keeps you guessing all through the book. Again, great written book.

With 2 "F-bombs" on the first couple of pages, I dumped this! I won't tolerate this filthy language.

This book was okay to read. It took a bit getting used to the way it was written.

Please reprint this book! Thete are far too many typos to even read it. Someone else should edit and publish it over. Perhaps it was the writer that made all the typos. If so the current editor and publisher or other staff should have caught them. Too bad. It seemed like it could have been a good read! Simone24

My first book by this author and boy am I impressed. His characters are unexpected and full of life. They talk like real people. The story whizzes along at breakneck speed and kept me guessing until the shocking climax. Highly recommended.

Who proofread? Story is unbelievable. And the ending...really?

That ending was totally unexpected! Wow! There isn't anything I can write in this review without spoiling the adventure for someone else. Excellent, quick read. Wendy's return to work was mighty disappointing, but it didn't take away too much from the full story.

This was a quick fun read. Little bit different twist to your standard murder mystery fare but a lot of fun. At least in this British based story you didn't have to suffer through a lot British slang.

I kept waiting to care about any of the characters, but the story was just not developed enough. The ending was completly unbelivable.
