I am one of those people that like maps. I used to go to the Map Store at the Denver Federal Center for all of my map needs. Topographical maps are my passion and I have tried to learn everything I can about them. Jim West, author of this delightful little book was always there at the map store and ever-ready to serve anyone who walked through its portals. Jim is one of those guys that knows more about maps and the outdoors than he lets on about. And his knowledge of maps is phenomenal! When I met up with Jim again after the Map Store had closed I was thrilled to learn that he had written a series of short stories of his time there at the map store. This is the most unusual and entertaining book you could read even if you don't have an interest in maps. It amplifies his dry and wry humor with seriousness all incorporated into the same sentence. I picked this book up and could hardly put it down. The stories are varied and wonderfully told... ~ by Grady Birdsong, Denver, Colorado
