This book is about a boy named David and his favorite horse that he just loves - Trickster! David lives near an animal clinic where he likes to volunteer to help out. Dr. Mac, the veterinarian, is busy checking animals when a blue pickup truck with a horse trailer pulls up. It is Mr. Quinn, a man who has a lot of horses, and inside is Trickster. David loves Trickster from the moment he first sees him even though he is injured. David becomes anxious to ride Trickster, and can't wait until he gets better. But, just one phone call the day David is helping out at the vet, and everything starts to happen all at once. Mr. Quinn says a horse is sick! They get there just in time. David checks Trickster and sees something is wrong, but the other horses have something wrong too! Read this action packed book to find out what happens to Trickster and the other horses.

This was the best AG book ever because it is about animals. Horses are my favorite animal. It is narrrated by a vet volunteer. There are others too. I suggest reading the others first, so you know how the volunteers originated. I give it 5 stars!

A VERY good book! David loves horses and wants so badly to ride and take care of Trickster, a beautiful and spirited Quarter Horse. But he keeps making mistakes that make others unlikely to trust him. Then a tragedy hits the stables, and getting to ride Trickster becomes the least of his worries. Wonderful book, awesome plot!

Anderson has written another wonderful book for the Wild at Heart series. I think that it is wonderful to have chosen the only boy out of the five voluteers to be the horse lover. I think that this book shows boys that it's okay for them to like horses. If there are any guys reading this, I just want to let them know that just because this book is apart of American Girl, don't let that stop you from reading it. These books are meant for boys as well as girls. Also alot of the horse books out there make horse riding seem really ditsy and girlish. plus they basically all have the same story line and always have a happy (which is sometimes unrealalistic) ending. That's why I hate horse books. This one is different and I would defianatly recomand for ages 10-12.
