It has been shown that journaling is an effective tool when managing a reducing diet but any diet with restrictions would fit nicely within this format. After an inital period of normal eating, the reader is helped to establish goals for the diet and the book provides adequate space for recording what is eaten. At the end of each day, one is provided a space for a "daily wrap up" to see how well goals were met. At the end of each week, the reader is encouraged to review his performance based on the goals he has set, and write a progress report reflecting his accomplishments. There is room in this book to record exercise goals as well as dietary ones. It is the best manual of it's type in terms of information given and guidance for planning and managing of a diet of almost any kind, that I have found over many years of trying to manage both reducing and diabetic diets simultaneously.

this book is good for showing you axsactly how you have been doing with your eating. it gives you a very real idea of how you are eating and what you need to change. I loved the 5 day chart in there where you track everything you eat!!

In a market that is saturated with diet tips, tricks and journals ¿ The Ultimate Diet Log stands out. It¿s easy to keep track of, fun to write in and easy to read.

I purchased UDL after flipping through each diet journal Barnes and Noble offered in the store. The UDL was the only one with flexibility in meal times, an exercise log and tons of pertinent information.

I wish i had not started writing in this book - I wrote the date on a page before i took a good look through the book. I wish i could return it. This book may be great for beginning food journalers, but it does not allow for in-depth food tracking (weight of food, cal, protein, fat, carbs, etc). It only gives a few lines to write foods and 2 "focus" areas that make this journal very limiting. I am sorry to say that i hate it and will be giving it to someone else to use (minus the first day that i attempted to use it ;-) I had filled up my Diet Minder, recommended below, and wanted to try a new journal... i don't know why! The Diet Minder allows for tracking of food amounts, cals, fats, carbs, protein and fiber and i much less limiting.
