Understanding the Backlash Against Affirmative Action

Expanding from a presentation to a conference of the Association of Social and Behavioral Scientists, Fobanjong seeks the fundamental forces responsible for the backlash against a policy that appeared fair and reasonable when it was implemented during the 1960s, but has turned out to be the most divisive issue in the US since the abolition of slavery. He concludes that the debate will be with the country for a long time, and develops three models to show why.
