This is a tender book-- part biography and part cultural exploration.  

As described in this book, masks are cultural camouflage --adopted to gain social acceptance (belonging) and/or to avoid the pain of social exclusion. However, masks also limit us by concealing our intelligence and gifts. Through self-awareness and reflection, we can each better understand how cultural norms inform and shape us and those we love.
