Up in Flames Elle James Kate and Chance were drawn together from the first and they fought the attraction. Bacchus tends to anchor her while pushing her towards Chance. A good development of characters whom you can relate to and whom you want to get their happy ever after. A sweet romance with a touch of suspense. Once I picked it up couldn’t put it down.

Up In Flames by Elle James is the sixth book in the Hellfire Series and definitely worth reading. After being deployed for nine months Kate was coming home and changing things up in her life. First thing is to get her ex out of her apartment, pack up and move to Hellfire Texas and start her new job as a Sheriff's Deputy. She was looking forward to a quiet small town life and not having to deal with relationship issues. Chance Grayson had been back in Hellfire for several years working for the fire department and living on his family's ranch. It was what he had needed after his last deployment where he had lost someone close to him. He wasn't looking for love or a relationship of any kind when Kate showed up, but he found that he enjoyed her company and they had a lot in common so becoming friends came naturally. When unexplained things start happening in their quiet down right after her arrival he knows that he will do anything that he can to protect her. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

We finally get Chance's story! I've been looking forward to reading Chance's story ever since I read about him in Hellfire in High Heels and Playing with Fire. In those two books he was a secondary character but I knew I'd get to read about his story eventually. I love that this book is about a kick-ass heroine, who is former military, and her retired military war dog (MWD). Kate is a really fantastic character. She's starting over with a new job and a new place to live, after getting rid of her cheating boyfriend. When Chance meets Kate there are unexpected sparks between them. But Kate is being held back because she's not ready to wade back into the dating waters after the bad experience with her ex. Chance has his own reasons for not wanting to get into a relationship. (The book's blurb doesn't reveal why so I'm not telling here either.) I could really feel the connection between the two characters and how they both tried to fight the attraction they felt for each other. It was also great to see Chance interact with his family in this book and know how close knit his family is. The bad guy in the story was pretty easy to figure out but that didn't matter to my enjoyment of the book. Elle James writes great romance and I kind of enjoyed that this one was more of a slow-burn story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series which I understand will be about the only daughter in the Grayson clan.

Kate Bradley’s done with men and ready to start over with a new job, home and life in Hellfire, Texas. Chance Grayson’s not ready to settle down since he’s still grieving loss and a broken heart from his last tour in Afghanistan. When these two meet they’re determined to just be friends. But the more time they spend together the more they want to be with each other. As Chance is ready to tell Kate how he really feels, an unknown threat has come to Hellfire that could put an end to any chance at love they could have. This is an entertaining romance with a touch of suspense and drama and a little steamy passion. The characters are well-drawn, and the storyline is engaging, keeping your interest from beginning to end. It’s a quick, easy read and a nice addition to this enjoyable series.

I love the men folk in fact all the folk of Hellfire Texas and this one is no exception. Chance Grayson is carrying scars from his time in the army after the woman he love dies in hi arms he may have returned to Hellfire and now works as a full time Firefighter but the nightmares won't leave him alone, consequently he lives life on the edge he is a adrenaline junkie who is afraid to slow down. Kate Bradley is a retired MP who left the army when her war dog developed an aversion to loud noises after an explosion that was to close. She has taken a job as the new deputy sheriff of Hellfire and is hoping to train Bacchus to become a drug sniffing dog. Before she can head to Hellfire she needs to get rid of her freeloading ex and she isn't surprised when she finds him in her flat with another woman luckily she called in reinforcements from the police before she confronted him. When she arrives in Hellfire danger follows in the shape of an arsonist what is his link to her past and what is the secret that has put her life in danger. How will Chance handle things when he starts to feel again is the woman he is beginning to love going to reciprocate his feeling or is she too gun shy for them to have a future You will need to read to see if these two shell shocked soldiers have a chance at a HEA. This is another fast paced book in the Hellfire series and as always it flows well and drags you in now desperately waiting for Lilly's story

This is book 6 in the Hellfire, Texas series and it features Chance and Kate. He’s carrying around some PTSD from events that happened while deployed. Even though she had previously been deployed, her issues stem from what awaited her after she came home. She’s decided to start over in the small town of Hellfire, Texas. It’s true what they say about love. You find it when you’re not even looking for it. Fantastic characters! This book has a great story line that was complete with smooth flowing events. I love visiting the wonderful people of Hellfire, Texas!

Woohoo! Another fantastic book from Elle James. Up In Flames is Ms. James' latest release in the Hellfire Series (book 6) but this can be read as a standalone. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. The characters in this book are phenomenal. Kate brings her military career to an end when she returns from Afghanistan. She already has a new job lined up in Hellfire. All she needs to do now is kick her boyfriend to the curb and collect her belongings. Chance is ex-military and now a firefighter in Hellfire. Chance and Kate's story is loaded with drama, action, humor, spice and suspense. I loved this book and can't wait to read my next book by Elle James. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a wonderful read. The well written, engaging story offers a entertaining blend of romance, drama, suspense, emotion and action. I fell very easily for Chance and Kate. They were extremely likable characters and complexly created. I felt the pull of their attraction and the sparks from their chemistry were very obvious. These two had seen and survived so much; I loved that they found each other and got a shot at happiness. I thought they were perfect for each other. With a story line that was interesting enough to make you not want to quit reading and some steamy scenes, in my opinion this was a five star read!

I have not read the previous stories in the series, and was concerned that would be an issue. Rest assured that it’s definitely a stand alone. The story revolves around Kate Bradley and Chance Grayson. Kate is a former Army dog handler, and the new deputy in Hellfire, TX. A job she sought after leaving behind the Army and a less than stellar ex. Chance , a former Army Ranger, suffered a great loss during deployment and still has nightmares. Even surrounded by family and working as a firefighter, he is a shell of his former self. That is, until he meets Kate and her dog. It’s a story filled with action, new beginnings, hope and the possibility of love. It’s also a story that reminds us of the effects of war and deployment on the brave men and women who are willing to sacrifice theirs lives for our freedom. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I enjoyed reading this story. It was an interesting and fun read. I loved coming back to Hellfire, TX and getting Chance's story. We knew that he had a lot going on and was having some problems but not exactly what they were from the previous books in this series. This can be read as a standalone without any problems though. We don't miss any information from previous books that are needed in this one. I loved Kate! She was a great character and perfect for Chance. This felt like a fast read. It flowed really well and help my attention throughout the book. There is not a lot of danger or build up with suspense in this story. There is a threat and there are things going on, it just doesn't take a large of focus of the story. Chance and Kate have other issues that need to be dealt with for them to be together. Neither was looking for a relationship or think they want one at this time. This felt like a lighthearted read and I really enjoyed it. There is very little sex and while fairly explicit it is a very small part of the story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
