About the Author

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.

When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

A wonderful story of a young woman who shows great strength and courage as she seeks her HEA. Growing up as Maddie did could have left her angry and bitter but she isn't. She believes her happy is out there. It's just a bit hard to find it. She's been crushing on her sexy neighbor but so far he doesn't seem to know she's alive. Until he does. Noah has his own issues but his outlook isn't as hopeful as Maddie's. Will she be able to help heal his hard heart or will he leave her like everyone else? This is a great quick read that will restore your faith and hope for everyone finding happy! I definitely recommend it.

"Waiting for Midnight" is a short holiday story that will warm your heart anytime of the year. Each having their own issues, Maddie and Noah were such an emotional couple. I can understand why Maddie had such a crush on Noah, since I fell in love myself with the quiet ex military man next door. Maddie was adorable and upbeat despite her past. Samantha Chase is such a gifted writer and always pulls at the heartstrings of the reader. Read in one sitting, I do not want to give the story away, but I would recommend "Waiting for Midnight" to all ages for lovers of romance and HEA. I would like to thank the author for gifting me with an ARC and asking me for my honest opinion. This is mine. 4.25 Stars!

This is such a sweet romance. It's a short read and one that you won't be able to put down. Maddie and her best friend Kiera are determined they will have dates for New Years Eve so they can have kisses at midnight. Maddie has crushing on her next door neighbor, Noah for quite awhile. She can't seem to get him to notice her. An accident brings them together. Noah still tries to keep Maddie at a distance but something about her keeps pulling him in. He likes to be alone and pushing Maddie away is his way of getting control back of his solitary life. I just wanted to adopt Maddie. All this woman wants is to be is loved as she's never had a family before. I was very happy when Noah redeemed himself in the best way possible.

I love Christmas and this sweet holiday story has put me in the holiday spirit even though it is months away! Maddie dreams of a special kiss at midnight on New Year's Eve and the object of those dreams is her sexy but surly neighbor Noah. She loves everything about the holiday season and wants nothing more than to share that with someone special. Noah is aware of her crush on him but for his own reasons has not let her know that he is interested in her and has not acted on his feelings towards her. A minor mishap puts them in a position to share their feelings but neither of them has the courage to do so. Will Maddie's dreams come true or will she spend another holiday season all alone? I don't want to spoil the story line so you will have to read it yourself to find out. This is a sweet and sexy story filled with holiday magic.

My first Christmas romance of the year, was a wonderful sweet romance with the magic of Christmas. The story of Maddie and her neighbor Noah. Maddie having a secret crush on Noah. Maddie wanting more of a relationship but Noah is afraid. Will a broken lightbulb bring these two lonely people together and give Maggie her wish of a kiss on New Year's Eve. This story will leave a smile on your face for quite awhile. A short read, that can be read in one afternoon. I highly recommend this book.

This was a really quick holiday read that was originally published in the Christmas in the City anthology. Maddie and Noah are neighbors who are brought together with a broken light bulb. Can the magic of the holidays keep them together? I loved Maddie and Noah! This was a really sweet romance and I would recommend it!

Loved this sweet, magical, heartwarming romance! It had it all and I just couldn't put this down and neither will you. Maddie hasn't had a New Years Eve date in six years and although they have just celebrated Halloween, her best friend Kiera thinks they need to put themselves out there if they want this year to be different. But Maddie has been secretly crushing after her sexy, sergeant, neighbor Noah for the last year, since he moved in. Although they have talked a few times nothing had ever come of it. So when her friend leaves, she goes outside to change a burnt out light bulb and runs into sexy Noah. When Noah quickly offers to take over but then promptly falls off the ladder hitting his head on the concrete walkway. Maddie takes him to the hospital to get checked out and then makes him some food the next day. Although he asks her to eat with him, Maddie is pretty sure he has had enough of her and starts to realize they are two very different people. But as she goes to leave what starts as a innocent hug quickly turns to a hot sizzling kiss. The military had always taught him to not act impulsively, that it could be dangerous. And thy were right. But Maddie had starred in everyone of his late night fantasies. And she felt incredible in his arms. But then Maddie runs away from him to her apartment. When Noah sees Maddie come home a few nights later and there is another guy that is close to her he is jealous. When he kisses her again and asks her if she wants him she answers yes. Together they have some serious heat, but when Maddie says she has some reports to do, Noah thinks she is trying to get rid of him and no one has asked him to leave before so he tells her that he wants to stay. But do they both want more? Is Noah and Maddie going to get a HEA? Will Maddie have a date for New Years Eve? You will need to read to find out. Loved this sweet, heartwarming, magical story. Highly Recommended! Received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Waiting For Midnight by Samantha Chase is a stranger to friend to lover story. Maddie has a crush on her upstairs neighbor, Noah, and has been trying to get his attention which has yet to happen. That is until a broken light bulb, a fall off a ladder, and a concussion occurs. This was a fun and entertaining Christmas novella with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. I highly recommend this book to other readers. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

What a fun story! I enjoy Christmas romances year-round and Waiting for Midnight was the perfect sweet and festive read. I loved how Noah was so stand-offish and how Maddie was able to break through his defenses. They have great chemistry from the start. Christmas in August and I thank you, Ms. Chase!

Such a great holiday novella! Samantha Chase did such a great job with this short story. Waiting for Midnight was a sweet tale about Maddie and Noah, neighbors, who navigate the holidays by spending them together. Noah was quite resistant, but Maddie's upbeat-ness (is that a word?) charmed him into it. I would have loved this to be a full length novel, since there was so much to their story that could have been told.

And now I'm ready for Christmas. What a splendid novella. I loved this book and there were even a few times I my heart felt the emotions. She did a wonderful job with this story and her writing. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Waiting for Midnight by Samantha Chase is quick, satisfying, and combines my two favorite things, romance and Christmas. Maddie and her best friend are tired of having no one to kiss for New Year’s Eve. When her friend starts to mention online dating, Maddie immediately balks at the idea and decides to do something about her crush on her sexy neighbor. Noah is a recluse. He likes is privacy and his alone time. But things start to change when he helps Maddie out with a busted light bulb and they end up spending some time together. There is no denying their attraction, but when Maddie wants more out of the relationship, will Noah leave her waiting? I felt for Maddie. She has no family, which makes the holidays hard for her. On top of that, she’s had an unrequited crush on Noah for over a year and nothing has come from it…until now. I love how resilient she was. She knew her and Noah had a special connection and she kept believing in it. As for Noah, he mans up in a big way after the damage he left behind, which makes his deserving of Maddie. Overall, Waiting for Midnight is well-written with fully developed characters, which can be hard to do with such a short novella, but Samantha Chase knocked it out of the park. I adored Maddie and fell in love with Noah towards the end and as an added bonus, I’m totally ready to begin the holiday season!

Waiting for Midnight by Samantha Chase....What a magical short story that put me in the Christmas sprint in the month of July. Samantha has written a beautiful touching story that hits all the emotion buttons. I fell in love with Maddie and Noah, they are both missing that sparkle in their lives. The sparkle burns bright when they are together will the be able to keep it burning. This was an amazing story and I highly recommend this book. I was given a complimentary book for an honest review.

Maddie is tired of not having someone to kiss on New Year's Eve. So Maddie and her best friend try to figure out how to make sure they have dates this year. Maddie has a crush on her neighbor Noah, but has decided after a year of liking him with nothing in return, it's time to move on. Noah is quiet, former military and just keeps to himself. Noah knows about Maddie's crush but doesn't want to encourage it. One night after Noah helps Maddie out they start talking, one thing leads to another. This was a heart melting story. I stayed up way to late reading, could not put it down. I read it in one sitting, which is not usual for me (I am not the faster reader). It left me buzzing with joy. This is a definite must read!!

I absolutely loved this story about Maddie and Noah. Maddie is a single young woman that has spent the last 6 years without a date on New Year’s Eve. She and her friend hope this year is different. Maddie has gone to a few blind dates, and the experience has been less than pleasant. She has been watching her neighbor, a dark, tall and handsome man during the last year . She has a crush on him but they barely speak until he literally catches her while she was trying to replace a bulb. Thus starts their friendship. Time spent together is ideal but things happen and reality check changes the game. Will they be together or will their relationship end? Needless to say it was a touching story, with great characters and a delight to read I received an ARC copy from the author for an honest review.

A sweet little holiday romance! As usual with a short novella, it goes by too fast and you're always left wanting more, but I enjoyed getting to know Maddie & Noah! Maddie has been crushing on her neighbor for over a year now, and just her luck, when she finally gets his attention, it's because of a catastrophe involving a light bulb, a broken ladder and an ER visit! Will this finally be the year she has a date to kiss on New Year's Eve?

It’s barely past Halloween when Maddie’s friend Kiera asks her what Maddie will be wearing for New Year’s Eve. Maddie hasn’t had a date for New Year’s Eve in the past six years, but she has been harbouring a crush on her secretive next door neighbour for a year. She’s spoken to him casually a few times, but Noah, the former Marine, is never home. When Maddie decides to finally replace that light bulb on her porch, which is no easy task since it entails climbing up a ladder and Maddie is afraid of heights, Noah catches her just as she’s about to fall. Noah will replace the bulb, however he takes a tumble and knocks his head! I thought it was a bit of strange time of year to release a Holiday-themed book, but since we jump right into the story, it worked perfectly well. Noah is not the friendliest, and he is quite the loner indeed, but I liked that Maddie in spite of being so attracted to him, was not pushy, maybe not enough; she seemed a bit needy, but given her backstory, it’s understandable. Noah however was another story. He seems terribly aloof, but he is rather possessive, and I thought he came off as a tad stalkerish; I guess it’s a personal preference, really. My favourite character was Kiera, Maddie’s friend. WAITING FOR MIDNIGHT, which was part of the Christmas in the City Anthology, is a sweet little romance, which didn’t work so well for me, because I did not believe in Noah; I think that, even though it’s a very short novella, there could have been a tad more character development. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A sprinkle of that magic to be carried all year round. Waiting For Midnight brings the romance, sentiment and heart in a short story that blends hope, dreams and fairy tale wishes to create a little piece of heaven. I had the pleasure of reading Ms. Chase's edition to the Christmas in the City anthology back in December. I loved it then, just as much as I do now.
