About the Author

Basil Clark was Associate Professor of Speech and Theatre at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky where he taught public speaking, theatre, oral interpretation, and interpersonal and health communication courses.

His interests lie in writing, gardening, hiking, art, photography, and enjoying all activities with his wife Cora, and their eleven grandchildren.

In 1983, he won grand prize in the Performing Arts Repertory Theatre, now TheatreWorks, USA (NY), for his play Change of Exchanges. More recently, in 2001, his story “The Town Drunk" was included in The World’s Best Shortest Stories published by Quality Paperback Book Club (NY), and in 2005 he co-authored Poetic Healing: A Communication Journey from a Vietnam Veteran’s Perspective, (Parlor Press, West Lafayette, IN)

He served fourteen months as an Infantryman with the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam where he received the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars (one for Valor) and a Purple Heart.

In 2007, 2008 he wrote a DVD script for use by 4th grade teachers, Mars Invasion: Coal Camp to Space Camp. The curriculum is approved by the KY Department of Education and coordinates with the Mars Invasion program at the Challenger Learning Center of Hazard, KY.
Also, Basil has developed and performs several character monologues ranging from twenty to 40 minutes in length:

Biblical: Adam, Moses, Jepthah, Naaman, Job, Jonah, Mordecai, Micah, King Solomon, Nebuchadnezzar, Barabbas, Peter, and Paul.
