I wanted to like this book but the writing is terrible and the dialog is unrealistic. The book is historically inaccurate and the characters are never developed.

Even though this is a complete story I wanted it to keep going. I'll be waiting (impatiently) to read about Abigail and Jo's stories!

The writer of this book was obsessed with breastfeeding. The dialogue was unrealistic and bold for that time in history. The only thing good about the book was it's length...only about 150 pages...i guess the writer ran out of "poetry" for disscribing breastfeeding. It was a rediculous story written by a woman who seemed to be striving to write poetically and failed miserably.

This story might be appropriate for young Christian teens. Author talks around "sex" and uses wording appropriate for teens. However, sentence structure and grammar needs work. This story also needs help with character development, plot, etc.

Two stars for the basic story plot. Her husband divorces her after giving her a year to get pregnant and she cannot. She answers a mailorder bride letter, meets a good man and they fall in love. The end. Of course there's lots of preachy God stuff and filler conversation and letters but there's NOTHING THERE!. All in all a complete bore!

Short and easy to read. Very sweet story, makes for a wonderful Sunday afternoon read.

I'm glad that this thing was free, because even if it had cost only $1, I would have paid too much. Cardboard characters, wooden writing -- it reads like a long synopsis. It deserves the Eight Deadly Words: I don't care what happens to these people. Lack of proofreading for continuity didn't help. The name of Anna's first husband switched at random from Stewbren to Strewbren. A minor thing, true, but it just serves to illustrate how little care went into the writing of this book. I quit around page 50. I'm deleting it from my Nook. It gets one star only because I can't give it half a star.

What a sweet story. Get out the tissues for this one. It is a tear jerker but in a good way. Recommend.

Heart warming, although I would have liked to hear the reactions in her home town when it became evident that she was not barren.

I read the ratings of other readers, and maybe I am grammatically challenged, because I was more interested in the story than a couple of typos. I thought it was a good story, not perfect but interesting. Everyone has their own opinion.

I really enjoy mail order bride stories. This one was no exception and seemed a fresher take on things. I really enjoyed it

This kinda left like a bad taste in my mouth. Kinda wished they focused more on the character development and honestly it wasn't written accurately for that time period.

Some people complained about the story .. as i read the remarks, one lady said they wrote to much about breast feeding. R u serious? That's not just what the book is about. A sad story that had a tragic start having gone through so much i'm suprised he felt love again. Thank you for writing a true love story where everyone does everything they can to have a happy life. Thank-you T

I liked this book. The struggles, love, family, etc. It was short but a very easy read. Whether its true to history or not, I don't care. I enjoyed this book. :)

The dialog was cheesy and melodramatic, couldn' t finish it.

It was a good little book. The typos had me re-reading in quite a few places but not enough to make me put the book down. The characters had depth for such a short story.

Characters were unbelievable. Dialogue was too sappy for my taste.

Initially I found Josephine to ba an inspiring character. Although I enjoyed the story, I would love to read more about her and her story of love.
