In the ten years that I've been dealing with Hashimoto's hypothyroid, I have never come across much of the information contained in this one book.
This book is making the difference in how I feel, physical issues that, although I take medication, still were not resolved.
First and foremost: I'll forever avoid gluten. I suspected that I might be sensitive to it, but never dreamed of the extent it was affecting me. No more "just one piece of bread" when out to dinner. The effects are more far reaching than I ever imagined.
This book is masterful, and the depth of information has opened my mind like never before.
If you have thyroid issues and although you might be under a physician's care, you still don't feel 100% ~ this book is well worth a read.

No other book approaches hypothyroidism, especially Hashimoto's, like this one does. This book shows how for most people hypothyroidism is an immune disease, not a thyroid disease, and should be treated as such.

This is an excellent book on Thyroid issues however read others first as this one is very detailed for the non-medical person, me included. My chiropractor who is a functional medicine practitioner was surprised I read this book. It took a while but was worth it. One must take what you can from a book & apply it to your individual circumstance.

Had been floundering through my Hashimoto's diagnosis and symptoms with no clear understanding as to how I should proceed with my treatment except for popping a synthetic thyroid pill once a day for the rest of my life. With no real relief from the majority of my symptoms, I began the overwhelming task if researching the whys and hows. This book defines Hashimoto's as exactly what it is, an auto-immune disease. The real life examples of different people and their struggles along with their triumphs of managing their symptoms and hormone levels, in some cases reversing the disease's progress, are inspiring to say the least. After reading, I had so many questions for my Endocrinologist about how to proceed with my treatment. He was very receptive and encouraged my questions. We agreed that I should try a gluten free diet since a lot of the residual symptoms I had were pointing towards a gluten intolerance. I've been g-free for 4 months now and have not felt this well and energized in years. Research, ask questions, and never be afraid or unwilling to step out of your box and try something different for the sake of your health. It may change your life!

The book outlines all the possibilities for the cause of Low Thyroid. What all should be tested and how to treat according to the cause. Why those tests are showing "normal" when in reality they are not. I'm recently diagnosed by conventional medicine. It's been my experience that conventional medicine practices do not investigate the CAUSE because the treatment is the same regardless of the cause. I did NOT think this was a commercial for the author. I believe the need to mention patient and physician experiences were neccessary to explain the points. In conclusion, it is up to the patient to be PROACTIVE in seeking out the cause and the treatment. This points the way to Functional Physicians and caution must be exercised. Research & choose one that has good references and one that will not put you in the poor house. It is my opinion that when it comes to thyroid, conventional medicine does not have a full grasp of treating according to the cause. One can only hope that one day conventional physicians & functional physicians can work together as a team for your good health!

Well researched, with the direction to take the holistic approach in treating this auto immune disease. My well researched on this topic, sister gave me a copy and said it was the best book she has read. Made an appointment with one of the recommended doctors as soon as I finished the book. Gave a hard copy to a friend as well. He can get technical at times but has some understandable case studies. Highly recommend!
