Winning Dr. Wentworth by Rebecca Heflin

She's benched her heart. His is on injured reserve.

Burned-out and broken-hearted statistics professor, Dr. Shelby Wentworth, returns to her hometown determined to escape the disgrace of a nasty divorce, shake off the taint of her ruined career, and start over. This time she swears she'll live by the rule 'don't get your honey where you get your money.' But an unexpected reunion with her former high school crush, not only makes her rethink her decision to return home, but also tempts her to break her one rule.

After a career-ending injury and his own disheartening divorce, former NFL quarterback, Nash Taylor, returned to his hometown to become the head coach of the Sterling University Bobcats. When his childhood best friend literally runs into him in the faculty parking lot, he thinks maybe it's time to put his heart back in the game.

Nash, in the hunt for a division championship, enlists the number-crunching Shelby as his secret weapon. But Nash's plan to help Shelby regain not only her confidence, but also her financial security backfires and lands Shelby in the same hot water that brought her home in the first place.

Will Shelby let the past dictate the future, or will Nash win her heart on his way to winning the championship?

About the Author

Rebecca Heflin is an award-winning author who has dreamed of writing romantic fiction since she was fifteen and her older sister sneaked a copy of Kathleen Woodiwiss' Shanna to her and told her to read it.

Never quite sure what she wanted to be when she grew up, Rebecca didn’t attend college until age 30, and earned her bachelor’s in literature, before going on to complete her law degree.

Ever the late bloomer, Rebecca finally turned her attention to fulfilling her dream of writing, and published her first novel at age 48. When not passionately pursuing her dream, Rebecca is busy with her day-job at a major state university.

She and her husband are also co-founders of a non-profit organization, which raises money to help cancer patients and their families.

Rebecca's pen name is an abbreviated version of her great-great grandmother's name: Sarah Anne Rebecca Heflin Apple Smith. Whew! And you wonder why she shortened it.

Winning Dr. Wentworth by Rebecca Heflin Have read and enjoyed the first book in this series surrounding Sterling University from the same author. Book starts out with Shelby and she's working at the university now. She runs into an old friends car as she backs out-Nash who they've known since grade 4. He left to go play for the NFL and has returned to his family home to tend to his ailing father and is the football coach for the university. They are friends with Sam and Ethan who are planning their wedding and they are thrown into the mix of things as they get to know one another again. What I like about this book is you hear the story from his and her sides. Love the attention to details, whether it be inside or out. Like stats also and how they get one another to open up about past life events that still effect them. Sex scenes that enhance the story line. Excerpts from other books are included. I received this book from the author and this is my honest review.
