Overview

It had always been her…

Ten years had passed since the doors slammed shut behind Decker Calhoun, taking away his freedom, but more importantly, locking him away from Elizabeth Waters, the only woman he’d ever loved—the woman he’d given up everything for.

The day he was sentenced, he’d looked at her and said, No regrets, Lizzie. But he lied, because he did have one. Although he’s been out of jail for three years now, he was a year too late. Lizzie never knew how he felt and just months before he was released, she found somebody else and it’s too late.

Or maybe not. It seems that Lizzie’s boyfriend wants an open relationship and two can play at that game. Now all Decker has to do is convince Lizzie that he’s the better man…and has been all along.

ONLY 82 PAGES. ## How the heck did this book get these good reviews? God, it was terrible. The writing was atrocious. It was choppy, jumping from one subject to another. Incredibly difficult to follow. Half the time I had no clue what they were talking about. Much to my chagrin, the heroine was a complete doormat. And even worse was reading about the lead couple having sex with others! I want to read about them having sex with EACH OTHER, not others! PLEASE, don't waste your money on this drivel.

5 STARS! ABOUT THE BOOK: It had always been her… Ten years had passed since the doors slammed shut behind Decker Calhoun, taking away his freedom, but more importantly, locking him away from Elizabeth Waters, the only woman he’d ever loved—the woman he’d given up everything for. It seems that Lizzie’s boyfriend wants an open relationship and two can play at that game. Now all Decker has to do is convince Lizzie that he’s the better man…and has been all along MY REVIEW: My only complaint with this book was that I wish it was longer! It was a fast read with lots of suspense and a ton of hotness thrown in. Ms. Walker has a way with words and a way about really amping up the heat. Decker and Lizzy were perfect for one another, and although it looked as if she had already moved on (much to Decker’s dismay), things weren’t exactly how they seemed. I loved how Ms. Walker threw in a bit of conflict here so it didn’t seem like the typical perfect story. Of course those make the best reads! I couldn’t put this book down and I think you won’t be able to, either. Review can be found on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Romantic Romp, and LibraryThing.

You Own Me reminded me how much I ADORE Shiloh Walker's books. Lizzie and Decker are two best friends that are plagued by one moment in time. A moment when Decker reached to the most primal part of himself and jumped to Lizzie's defense. A time that irrevocably changed both of their lives and altered their paths to each other.  In present day, Decker watches as  Lizzie see right through his compassion for her. Sure, they're still the best of friends. But he's well and truly been friend-zoned. Until her creep of a boyfriend makes a mistake that will throw Lizzie right into Decker's arms where Decker has always needed her to be. But Lizzie can't forget the events that spiraled her past out of control. She's never believed that Decker wanted her or she would have thrown herself at him long ago. Decker has to make all of the right moves at all the right times to paint a clearer past than Lizzie knows and to create a future with them together.  Decker is your resident hard a*s sweetheart. He'd do anything for Lizzie. Literally, anything. Meaning take down anyone who hurts her, and oppositely be the loving man of her dreams. He is a true dynamic character that I loved reading. Lizzie, well she's a firecracker. Or at least by the end of the she was. She made such a transformation from page one to the end. She found her self-worth, and took what she wanted. The thought to be unrequited love stories always get me, but You Own Me gave a much deeper feeling to the plot than most books. The emotions between Decker and Lizzie offered more. Even though the book was on the short side, it packed more feeling in than some other full length books I've read. This is not to be missed! Happy Reading! *ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

I LOVED IT. Love, love, loved it!!! You Own Me is one of those books that has that “thing” that makes me love it so much that I can’t really explain it. It’s just how it makes me feel. Decker has loved Lizzie for years – pretty much since they met in high school. But he kept his feelings to himself because he didn’t feel like he deserved her, didn’t feel like he was good enough for her. However, he couldn’t imagine her not being a part of his life, so he was resolved to be her friend. Unfortunately an incident occurred that resulted in Decker going to prison for murder and while the characters don’t discuss the actual incident until the end of the book, you’ll likely figure out why and understand why Lizzie feels safe around a man that apparently intimidates most everyone else. I fell in love with Decker. He’s obviously sexy, but it is his love for Lizzie that makes me want to find my own Decker. Lizzie is so sweet and caring … almost too caring because it’s why she has put up with Noel for far too long and goes so far as to entertain his suggestion for an open relationship. She wants so badly to “belong” to someone that she sells herself short. Thankfully her friend Selah cajoles her into exploring the open relationship and she finds herself falling for a man online that whose every word seems to speak directly to her heart … um, and other parts of her anatomy. Oleander can certainly write some messages that are both romantic and sexy. But when an incident occurs between Joel and Lizzie that causes Decker to step in and protect her, he finds he’s no longer able to hide his feelings. And can I just say, holy desk sex!!! Freaking heck that was a HOT scene.  But anything beyond friendship between Decker and Lizzie has never been easy to obtain and I found myself on pins and needles until the end of the book wondering if Decker was going to be able to get Lizzie to see him as more than just her friend. I was beside myself with glee when Decker crashed her date with Oleander and made a HUGE romantic gesture to prove to her how much he loved her. It was soooooooooo good and sent my heart to fluttering. I have read and enjoyed Ms. Walker’s romantic suspense books from her Secrets & Shadows series so I knew she was a very talented writer. But the romantic in me may have just caused You Own Me to surpass all of her other works to claim its spot as my favorite Shiloh Walker book yet.  I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.  Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!

I love a good guy that will do bad thing (or anything) for the woman he loves; in this case Decker Calhoun gave up ten years of his life. Walker knows how to sweep a reader into a story and keep her there. I read this in a single sitting – hubby had to wait for dinner until I finished reading. Never a dull/stalled moment in the entire story and the ending, which I will not spoil for you, is spectacular.  Highly Recommend! Grab this one today! 3.5 Stars ~Reviewed by FRANCESCA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog What’s better than falling in love with your best friend?  Decker has always been in love with Elizabeth, always the best friend and loving her from afar.  He sees himself as just the kid from the wrong side of the tracks, not wanting to sully her perfection with the likes of him.  But he’s also made it his mission to be her protector.  And that’s how he finds himself in jail for ten years. Elizabeth has always stayed true to her friendship with Decker, even when others don’t support of it.  Especially her new boyfriend. This was a fun story with an edgy of dangerous, added in by that sexy hero. I love under appreciated heroes and I feel as if Decker was that in the past.  He was boxed in the “friend” category and had to suffer seeing the love of his life with other men.  His love obvious to everyone but her. But don’t think he’s all sweet and good.  Decker has a dangerous and extreme side that as much as it is sexy that he’s so protective, it might’ve scared me just a bit.  Elizabeth is also a full figured woman, and as much as her boyfriend had put her down for it, Decker loves her curves and makes her feel good about herself. It’s always so hard for me to connect with short stories like this that stand alone and are not about characters I already know from a series.  But Ms. Walker packs a great amount of story in a short amount of pages.  If you haven’t read her yet, this will be a great small taste. *ARC provided by author

Decker spent time in prison and he doesn't regret it. The only thing he does regret is having to leave Lizzie behind. When he gets out the two remain friends but he wants more as he always has. She has a boyfriend and Decker doesn't' want to ruin things. Now her boyfriend has decided they should have an open relationship and that is great news to Decker. It's his chance to show Lizzie she doesn't need her boyfriend and to show her he is there for her. Lizzie is a smart woman and she keeps a lot of stuff bottled up inside. She has needs and wants but puts them last. She stays wither boyfriend Noel I think more so she isn't alone as to actually loving him. Decker may be a rough guy but I would take him in a heartbeat. He will do anything to protect Lizzie. He doesn't feel he is good enough for her and wants her to be happy even if that is with someone else. First off Noel is a jerk and I wanted to cut a little part of him off. He is constantly putting Lizzie down and trying to change her. Now he wants to keep her and have more women. I loved Decker from the start. He puts up with crap from a lot of people do to his record and they don't even try to look and see what the facts are. Lizzie at times did get on my nerves as she seems afraid to be alone. Her and Decker have always cared for each other but it never seemed to work out. There is lots of sizzle in this story as they finally begin to open up and see each other after Noel shows what a jerk he is. If you want a hot little story try this one.

You Own Me, Shiloh Walker Review from jeannie zelos book reviews A short read at just 92 pages, but its a packed story and full of heat. I'm not usually a novella fan, as they mostly seem to be bits of a story, but here we've one that complete. Shiloh has been succinct in giving us background, which leads to a novel that easy to follow and has lots of spice and sensuality. I loved Decker. From the start I thought there must be some kind of connection between him, Lizzie and the mystery of his prison sentence, but that's just held tantalisingly out of reach right til the end. And I didn't guess it! Lizzie too – she was far too good for that jerk boyfriend – rattling on about his “needs” as to why he wanted an open relationship. Like Lizzie I'd be gutted if it was me, he'd already eroded most of her confidence and this just sapped that last little bit. Thank goodness she had friends like Selah and Decker. Decker wanted to be more than friends though – but was convinced Lizzie wouldn't want him.... So, its a story full of people, of relationships, of mystery and all tied up ( not literally! Its not a BDSM book...) with lots of erotic sensuality. Short but very hot. Stars: Five – well written, complete story and kept me engrossed. ARC supplied via Netgalley and publisher.

This is a short story, with that said the book was complete. Decker and Lizzie made me fall in love. They've been friends since high school, but one night changed both of their lives... I don't want to give anything away. If this is your first Shiloh Walker book, prepare to become addicted to this author, she never disappoints readers.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 1/2 REVIEW:  Decker and Lizzie have a history. A history that is not pleasant. A history that both wish they could forget. But they can’t. Lizzie has tried to move on. Maybe not super successfully, but at least she has tried. Decker on the other hand has not been able to move on.  This was a really good quick read. As with all novella’s I can’t in good faith give you to much. But I loved Decker & Lizzie’s story. Even if the truth was staring them in the fact the whole time.  If you are looking for a quick read about love, forgiveness and a chance at happiness you should pick up a copy of You Own Me.  Disclaimer:  I received a complimentary copy of the book from Shiloh Walker in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

I'm a total sucker for unrequited love stories.  When I first read the blurb for this book, I thought, "Oh Decker!"  Of course once I got started, I learned more about Lizzie and Decker's relationship and I fell a little more for the both of them. It goes without saying, I liked this book.  I wish Decker had spoken up sooner and gotten over the idea she was too good for him.  I do like how he finally decided to step up to bat, so to speak.  I guess love did make Lizzie blind to what an ass her boyfriend was.  I didn't like having to see her go through that pain when she realized what Noel wanted.  I loved the way Decker treated Lizzie; like she was precious.   I read this book fairly fast and it is hot!  I got what I was looking for and of course you know Decker and Lizzie got together too.  Shiloh Walker did a great job at writing a story I didn't want to end.   I'm always looking forward to her next book.

I must confess that I picked this book up one night and I could not put it down until I finished the last page. I have read quite a bit of Shiloh Walker's work now, so it should not amaze me how talented she is, but it does every time. This lady sure can write an intriguing story that grabs a hold of me and keeps me captivated until the very end. Elizabeth Waters' life was torn apart when Decker Calhoun went to prison. She thinks she is on her way to putting her life back together with her new boyfriend. On the surface he's a good responsible man that should be the perfect guy. Under all that pretty fluff is nothing but a no good dirty jerk!  Elizabeth has to find that out the hard way though and her friends are there for her. She finds out that Decker still has feelings for her but he has been afraid to show them. Decker has the bad boy personality but under all that tough guy exterior, he has one big marshmallow of a heart when it comes to Elizabeth.  Wow is really all I can say about this great book! Be prepared for some steam and you might want to grab yourself a cold drink while you read this book. It's a hottie and a goodie.  I don't want to tell you too much about You Own Me. I sure  don't want to spoil the story line for you. If you are a Shiloh Walker fan then you really need to pick this one up NOW! If you enjoy a steamy romance with some drama and a good story line then I think you will enjoy it as well.  You Own Me left my Kindle and my heart both a little warm. This is a really great story.  I was given the opportunity to read this story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on You Own Me.

Wonderful lunchtime read. Highly intense and very sexy. Decker has been away for the last decade 7 of them spent in prison. When he finally comes back the only reason he did is gone. Lizzie has someone else in her life, but Decker soon learns about the relationship between Noel and Lizzie and feels Lizzie deserves better. Unable to control the love and lust he feels for Lizzie he plans to prove to her what a wonderfully beautiful person she is both inside and out. These lovers end up burning up the sheets, the sex between these two is hot. I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put it down.

My rating: 4 of 5 ¿¿ ***** Best friends since childhood, Decker and Lizzie have secretly harbored deeper feelings for each other since they were adolescents. His protective instincts and love for Lizzie have ended Decker with 10 years behind bars, but his feelings never waned. Although Lizzie has remained a loyal friend, she has tried moving on the last few years and the few years since Decker has been out he has been forced to watch from the sidelines. Something he is tired of doing... A hot short compelling story, that had enough potential interest for a full sized novel. Although the 'friends to lovers' trope is not one that is new to us, there are components to this particular book that make it particularly intriguing.  There is a deeper connection between Decker and Lizzie from before he was sentenced, but also deep insecurities within both, that escalated and resulted in his incarceration. Lizzie's insecurities have always been rooted in herself, whereas Decker's have had more to do with his circumstances and background. Neither ever bothered communicating their wants, needs or insecurities properly. When they finally do, they find they have never been that far apart.... Too short for me to get a great connection with the characters but I did love them a lot, which is why I really wished this would have been a full sized novel. It would have been easy for me to get lost in them.  "A touching, intense and tantalizing read."

Sweet, sexy friends to lovers romance. Decker went to jail protecting the girl he loved but knew he wasn’t good enough for her. Now he is out of jail but she is with another man and has relegated him to friend status. When the jerk she is with says he wants an “open” relationship Decker see a chance to win Lizzie’s heart. I loved Decker. He is the knight in slightly rusted armor. It was hard for me to watch and wait for Lizzie to get her stuff together but when she does it is worth the wait.

In the world of contemporary romance Shiloh Walker creates some of the best book boyfriends out there. Pure Alpha tendencies tempered with a vulnerability that melts you, of course smokin' hot with skills in the bedroom doesn't harm either. Decker, for me, is on a par with those Rafferty Boys in Fragile and Broken - they are favourites of mine that I thought Ms Walker would never top, however, Mr Tall Tatted & Alpha Decker has snuck in there. It's almost a backhanded compliment to give this book 4 stars not 5, the one and only reason for that is the length. This is a short sweet and steamy read well written but just not quite long enough. The chemistry, history and friendship between Decker and Lizzie draws you in and doesn't let go. They are best friends whose timing was never right and life, as it does, got in the way of. We all make our choices and take the consequences, for Decker and Lizzie this has made for a heart-warming, slow burning, smoking' hot read with humour, chemistry, romance, lust and a hero you will devour as he endeavours to make their path one they take together.
