Overview

Zoo by Tara Elizabeth

A chronicle of my time living in a zoo . . . I'm not really sure where to start, and you may have trouble believing me even as I tell you my story. My family did. They laughed the first time I told them, so now I just say it was all a crazy dream. You see, I died in a totally preventable car accident . . . or so I thought. When I opened my eyes, I was shocked to discover that I had been resurrected into the year 2282 and, just as unbelievably, was locked up in a zoo! A HUMAN ZOO! Oh wait, I mean the People's Past Anthropological Center.

The Global Government created the Centers because all of the different cultures of the world had, over centuries of time, slowly absorbed into one uniform culture. Everything and everybody felt the same, and the world didn't like it. So, to help the people of 2282 find cultures they thought worthy to live their lives by, they used time travel to zap the people of the past into the future. They created enclosures to house their live human exhibits. And that's what happened to me. I became a research project, a source of entertainment. I was a prisoner who was over two hundred years away from my family and friends.

Most of my time in the enclosure was spent trying to escape. I also made friends, lost friends, fell in love, was betrayed, was held captive within captivity, and lots of other fun stuff. There were some shocking moments and some devastating moments . . . It's a lot to recount, but I'll try my best to tell you all about my time travel . . . PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE.

I'm Emma, by the way.

Absolutely love this book! Great dystopian about a futuristic world with a human zoo. I haven't come across a book yet with such great and wild idea. The characters are very well written and easy to relate to. One of my favorite books! Can't wait to check out her other book and wait for next installment  on this series.

What a great read!  Emma is funny, feisty and completely lovable!  I love the conversations she has with herself.  She's not perfect but completely believable.  The concept of this book is amazing and so original, I didn't put the book down until I was finished with it.  Then I was sad that the adventure was over. You will hate some of the characters and fall in love with others.   Thank you Tara for giving me a story that I couldn't figure out ahead of time!!  I look forward to many more of your thought provoking stories!

I wasn't sure what to expect, I mean reading the synopsis I knew I wanted to take a chance because it's a very unique and original idea in my opinion. I've never read anything like it or heard anything like it. If it was done right it had so much potential to be amazing. I definitely didn't expect to be captivated by this world so completely. It was absolutely done right! Emma is fantastic. She's stubborn and fiesty and just the right amount of sarcastic. It is so much fun to read as she tells her story of how she ended up in the zoo and her struggles to try to escape and try to get home. This future world she's taken to after her death is brilliantly designed by Tara Elizabeth and it's so easy to fall into and feel like you're there with Emma and her friends. And such an interesting concept. I mean being pulled from your "death" to be "saved" and put on exhibit at a human zoo?! Insane right? I laughed out loud so many times, seriously you will love Emma! There's also plenty of anxiety, tension filled, edge of your seat moments, the last 1/4 or so of the book was intense. This book is just so full of everything. I can't recommend it enough! I want to thank Tara Elizabeth for offering me to read and review this book. When the book grabs me the way this one did, it's simply a pleasure to read! :)

Great story. Zoo is a fantastic read and very original. The short chapters with mini-cliffhangers kept me turning pages and I ended up reading it in two days. The story moves quickly and the landscaping continues to change but the athor takes the time to let you get to know the characters. It's also a great love story and you end up really rooting for the two main characters. This is a book you will not want to put down...

Zoo kept me completely captivated from the first page and I read it in two days because I just couldn't put it down! The whole concept of a human zoo is fascinating and I sincerely hope it becomes a movie one day. Tara Elizabeth is an incredible writer and I can't wait to read her other books!

I love the concept of this book. It is a very creative story and I LOVE every page of it. Toward the latter part of the book I was so engaged that I found myself holding my breath most of the time and on the edge of my seat (literally). Great job Tara Elizabeth! I look forward to many more of your books. It's a must read!

Awesome YA Dystopian/Sci-Fi Fiction! What an original storyline. It even had some unexpected twists. The book was fast paced, which I enjoyed, and had an actual ending. The short cliffhanger chapters had me up reading all night. Just when I thought I could put it down, I found that I couldn't. Love the main character, Emma. She was a realistic 17 year old. She had ups and downs and struggles, but in the end she figured it out. There were some really great moments in this book, but I won't give them away. MUST READ! Saw the synopsis on another website which is what made me buy it. Here it is: A chronicle of my time living in a zoo . . . "Wow, we have a strong population of tigers /and/ wolves," he observed. "We'd better feed you now instead of when the visitors come. We don't want young children to see wolves hunt d devour rabbits." Rasper oened a small latch in the habitat, and opened the entrence to a cage of rabbit inside the wolf habitat. The rabbits spilled out into the cage. "Eat well, and look your best for the visitors!" He called, closing the cage and walking away.

Blizzard nods, glaring at the walls. Midnight abruptly wakes up at the sound of the deer. She gets up and chases after it, kills it, and eats a bit. She leaves the rest for the others.

Can you imagine living in an enclosure having people gawk at you like animals in the zoo? It is beyond my thinking. Oh that could never happen to us. Really? Because the world is so perfect right now? Ok, so yeah, maybe it could happen. One of these days maybe. Well that is what happened to Emma. One minute she is sending a text to a friend (while driving) and the next she is sitting in a white room about to be whisked off to a fate worse than death. And this is just the beginning of her story. I am a huge fan of THE TWILIGHT ZONE marathons that seem to come on around certain holidays. I will gladly stake out in front of my tv a watch a few with the family. I love how some can be so bizarre and creepy…and that is fine by me. So when I started reading ZOO I knew I stepped right into THE TWILIGHT ZONE. There is no other way to explain this book. The creep factor is definitely high and the paranoia is paralyzing. Zoo is absolutely horrifying but in such a good way. I had a hard time putting this book down. It was seriously one of those books that you could never find a stopping place. I will tell you this. Through half the book I didn't think it could get any creepier...but it did. Lets just say that it is like THE TWILIGHT ZONE meets THE HUNGER GAMES. Oh boy. I literally shuddered when this part came. I thought surely it wouldn't get any worse for these people. And yep, it did. The hell these characters went through was intense and crazy. Looking for a book that will be sure to give you the willies? One that is sure to capture your attention from the very start and not let go? Well then this book is for you. I gladly recommend it to anyone and everyone out there. Perfect for any age reader. I am sure once you get done you will be seeking out more from this author. I know I will be.

I really enjoyed this book. At first, I thought it made me feel a little scattered. Before long I had started to get a feel for the characters and the more I read the more I liked the book. I had estimated that it would take me a week to read, but I finished it in 10 hours. Zoo was a very enjoyable read and I have already placed an order for the paperback version to add to my home library. I give it five stars because I would (and will) read it again and again. I tried to add my pen name but the site would only let me post under anonymously. My pen name is RoxyRVT.
