This book is based on a personal experience...not hearsay -- you should actually read a book prior to reviewing. You might not agree with this officer's viewpoint...but, he does a great job providing an 'insider' view from someone who must serve a position, not a person -- sadly the person in the position he had to serve was difficult to respect in his viewpoint, and I can respect that...and, appreciate the viewpoint...

Picked up this book yesterday because I'd read 'Dereliction of Duty' by Colonel Patterson and loved it. This book's even better! Patterson artfully lays out the liberal problem with national defense while weaving in lively military narrative. He puts you in the cockpit of an F-117 during the first night of Gulf War I and with the special operations soldiers during our initial response to 9/11. It's an interesting combination of beautifully written narrative and hard-hitting factual dialogue. He helps the non-military reader understand the soul of the soldier while objectively arguing that the liberal party of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and John Kerry simply cannot be trusted with the role of commander in chief in these difficult days of war on terror. Told with extreme passion and personal conviction, you can feel Patterson's angst. Some of the key points: - Patterson details Kerry's treasonous behavior upon returning from Vietnam and his complete failure to support America's military in his 20 years in Congress - He accuses the liberal Democrats, Hillary Clinton in particular, of committing treason by placing personal political gain ahead of our troops' welfare - He point out that the roots of radical Islamic terrorism actually was born under the vacuous leadership of Jimmy Carter - He outlines the many ways Richard Clarke failed in prosecuting a war on terror and, in fact, is a fraud Beautifully written, a true page turner, this is the perfect antidote to President Clinton's tome. Buy one for yourself and one for your liberal friends. They'll never be the same.

How funny that many conservatives said Richard Clark was just angry because he didn't get the job he wanted. This is the same thing, the author didn't like the way Clinton was transforming the military from a cold war behemoth to the quick and nimble force that it is today. So now he's crying his little head off. It's this smaller force that is needed to win the war on terror.

Col. Patterson presents a compelling and often frightening look at the greatest problem facing our nation today. He celearly and logically reveals the agenda of the Left as it has been implemented by those who have taken over the Democratic Party. You won't get the facts in this book on the Today Show, 20-20, or CBS News. I couldn't put it doen!

in this new runaway bestseller bud patterson (who is a vetren and a very talented writer)presnts some very fasinating documented evidece cocerning bill and hillery clinton, and john kerry and the reckless disregard that they have shown to our military and country. the writer was there and experienced all for himself . you must read theis book before you go to the polls. its all documented.

Lt. Col. Patterson discusses in detail his military and White House experiences. He tells the truth about the liberal Democrats and how they are undermining our military. The details of the Carter and Clinton administrations are excellent. Senators Kerry and Kennedy are helping to destroy the fabric of this country by any means necessary.

This book does as good a job as I have seen explicating the reasons that modern liberal democrats are not only labeled weak on defense, but actually are weak on defense. This does not mean that they actually want to weaken us, but rather that the philosophy ends up doing just that. The points made by Patterson hit hard and stick. Rather than being a simple political zealot, he is a genuine authority with the credentials to make his points. He does a great job of pointing out Kerry's weaknesses and disruptions. He suggests that that lying (even Kerry has backed off those inflammatory statements) about the war-crimes of his 'band-of-brothers' and giving the enemy something they were torturing prisoners to say, is at least in the same ball-park with treason. If he was telling the truth, he needs to find others with him that saw the same things - they were wide spread according to him. Let's just keep in mind what many in this noble country did to those returning soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen. They were called baby-killers, spit upon, and generally hated by many, though not all. Soldiers returning from such a horrific fight then made to suffer these degrading humiliations by the hands of their countrymen, faced and face untold psychological devastation. Kerry was a rock-star in this movement. He provided credibility to those false charges and thus fueled the fire thrown at his brothers. Patterson has the right to make these accusations and point out these problems. I do not know what happened in the war itself for the common soldier, but can only listen to what veterans who were there and were witnesses say happened. There are always two sides, but the truth will usually win in the end. So far, it seems to me that O'Neill and Patterson have the upper hand in the evidence department. Patterson also does a good job highlighting the basic errors of liberalism as a philosophy and how these end up directly or indirectly weakening our ability to actually respond to real threats.

I loved Lieutenant Colonel Patterson's first book, 'Dereliction of Duty.' I was pleased that he decided to write another and much to my pleasure 'Reckless Disregard' is brilliant. Patterson is developing into a wonderful writer and spokesperson for our military and for conservatives everywhere. He argues forcefully that liberal Democrats cannot be entrusted with the presidency and national defense. He documents the many failures of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and provides a very clear warning that John Kerry will be yet another miserable failure in that regard. He also very effectively captures the soul of the American soldier. As he does, his argument for strong leadership in the White House becomes even more salient. Tremendous read! Definitely recommend.

Buzz Patterson served as President Clinton's military aide during the 1990s. He was so dissapointed in what he saw that he wrote a New York Times Bestseller titled 'Dereliction of Duty' chronicling the many ways Bubba mishandled America's military and national security. In 'Reckless Disregard,' he goes several steps further, painting the liberals and Democrats with the label they hate most, weak on defense, woefully inept when it comes to running our military, and in some cases (see John Kerry and Hillary Clinton) 'traitors.' As a previous reviewer noted, this is the book that the Kerry campaign DID NOT want to come out, especially now. This is the perfect counterweight to all of the hot air coming out of our former president's mouth and what's being trumpeted on the liberal media elite. If you want to get down to brass tacks, just the facts please, this book is it!! Well written, beautifully researched, and riveting in it's prose, it'll bring the most avid lib to his or her wobbly knees. Not the usual political pap, this work comes straight from the heart of a former Air Force pilot who flew in many of our country's efforts in the 80s and 90s. Perfect for beach reading, arguments around the dinner table, or to shoot down your emotionally-based, factually-ignorant friends. Another soon to be bestseller from Colonel Patterson!
