Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

"What I dream of," wrote Henri Matisse, "is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter—a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue." These words, like a stroll through an exhibitions of Impressionist master, move us closer to that dream, gently reminding us that inner peace is achieving more simply than most of us think. Ashley Davis Bush's Shortcuts to Inner Peace clears paths to serenity that most of us never would have guessed existed. A quiet little guide to everyday tranquility.

If you are searching for ways to bring peace to yourself in a stressful and complicated world you must check this book out!

Imagine sitting down for a relaxing conversation with a good friend over a cup of your favorite beverage and feeling the stresses of your life melt away. That's how I felt reading this book.

Ashley weaves personal anecdotes and insight throughout in a very organized and down to earth manner. It's a blended potpourri of suggestions on how to get in touch with your peaceful inner self and face the world with a smile.

Many of you in the Northeast United States have experienced the impact of what they are calling Snowtober with over 2 million households having their electricity cut off for a time. Funny how when the power goes off and we get unplugged from the internet and world at large, we get an opportunity to see how we've lost touch with the simple (and might I add precious) things in life.

Throughout the pages Ashley reminds us of situations we encounter in every day life and how we can respond and often change our attitudes and outlook for the better. Her easy to follow triggers and tips give us ways to (excuse me for quoting Monty Python) look at the bright side of life.

So when I recently went to the gas station to get the gas needed for our generator and had to work through the crowd, I remembered Ashley's tip and became a cheesecloth, letting all the stress and anxiety that abounded flow through me instead of stick to me. I didn't want to go home smelling like gas anyway :)

Help find your inner peace in every day life - pick up a copy of this book and you'll be on your way!
