Grant Cardone keeps publishing books about altering life to empower us to succeed, and obviously the books (most become best sellers) have a major impact. THE 10X RULE is no exception. One of the reasons Cardone's books are credible lies in the fact that he uses his own life and ladder to success as an example to follow. No created stories of nerds breathing in, expanding the lungs and the mind, and witnessing miraculous change: Cardone shares his own journey and thereby makes his concepts live and blossom. Cardone's writing style is conversational with the reader and he makes the reader feel as though the conversation and lessons he shares are between two people. Granted, that style is a 'technique' but it works. At the end of each very readable and brief chapter he provides a one-page exercise to make sure the reader is up to par with the progress. Sound pedantic? Try moving on to the next chapter without taking advantage of these exercises and it is likely that the committed reader will back track and complete these easy but serious assignments. Cardone's 10X Rule (Domination Mentality) is in words rather simple: think far beyond current expectations and goals, making them 10 times the size of current concepts, and don't let anything get in your way to reaching greater, substantial heights - in career expectations, in money, in relationships, and in health and longevity. Or as Cardone proposes, 'You must set targets that are 10 times what you think you want and then do 10 times what you think it will take to accomplish those targets. Massive thoughts must be followed by massive actions.' Early on in his book he offers the following: 'the following is the basic series of mistakes people make when setting out to achieve goals: 1. Mistargeting by setting objectives that are too low and don't allow for enough correct motivation. 2. Severely underestimating what it will take in terms of actions, resources, money, and energy to accomplish target. 3. Spending to much time competing and not enough time dominating their sector. and 4. Underestimating the amount of adversity they will need to overcome in order to actually attain their desired goal.' The remainder of this book tackles all the possibilities and accompanying techniques for achieving the 10X Rule. The messages are self help oriented and may sound like 'easy for him to say but not for me' dialogue, but the difference in Grant Cardone's principles is that he believes it is a given that all the potential lies within us - and he works on that assumption eventually proving to us that it is true: remember, he is standing beside us all the way giving his own life as an example. Though there are many passages in the book that merit sharing, reading and participating in the 10X Rule makes those pieces of wisdom and advice become gifts to the reader. 'Successful people talk, think, and approach situations, challenges, and problems differently than most - and they definitely think about money differently....Have a 'can do' attitude, Believe that 'I will figure it out', 'Focus on opportunity', 'Love challenges', 'Seek to solve problems', Persist until successful', 'Take risks', 'Be unreasonable,' 'Be dangerous', 'Create wealth', 'Readily take action', 'Always say 'Yes' ', 'Habitually commit', 'Go all the way', 'Focus on 'Now' ', 'Demonstrate courage', 'Be on a mission', 'Commit first - figure out later', 'Be disciplined', 'Reach up in relationships' etc.

This is really a moment of truth for self and family. My son (15) has realized a new level of confidence that I can only be grateful for. We now have discussions that have transcended our relationship to challenge each other for greater good. Yes he is only 15.

very straightforward book on how to be more productive. in a nut shell: whatever your expectations are, set the bar much much higher. most of us underestimate what it takes to reach our goals so if we expect something to happen we need to set the mark sky high and then work work work, with focused activity, and the goals will unravel while we probably are so caught up in the work. hope this helps anyone interested in The 10X Rule

I not only read this but I bought the audio version as well. I can not get enough. Many of the things Grant reminds us in this books is how we control our own destiny. We are the writers of our own endings and beginnings. Valuable words that helped me to recognize some of my short comings and realize my potential !
