A Friend in the Floorboards

Set in Louisiana in the late 1950s, Cecile, a teenage girl, befriends Perry, a ghostly apparition in her grandmother's living room. They learn, laugh, and love together, amid the rich Cajun culture of her family. Cecile's unlikely friendship opens her eyes to the beauty of diversity and the injustice of segregation. Together, they struggle to reconcile human potential with social limitations, while their interactions affect the lives around them, their futures, and the past.
