Omg. This book sounded sooooo good! It was written so badly though! No character development, they would go off into one story line and then cut it off and never return to it! Everything the girls did in the book was soooo easy for them, oh you have a dream? Bloop! Dream come true! This book was so random at parts that I would be reading on waiting for it to circle back to the original topic and nothing ever happened! One part even showed you a person who seemed really important and then they were killed? Drowned? Lost? Who knows! It never tells you! I will NOT being reading anything else in the series I was seriously disappointed ?

The plot is solid. The story however is ruined by overly simplistic or just completely unrealistic scenes. I understand it's fantasy, but the reality of your "world" has to work and it just doesn't.

I really enjoyed reading it but several times it refers to sexual stuff. It also has some mild languge saying da** and b****. I would not recommend this to people under fourteen.

Found the book to be a sleeper. Even though this is for young readers I dont beleve it would hold their interest.

The book wasn’t bad, decent plot a little slow. But kept plugging along. And guess what book ends with twin cliffhangers. So I will NOT be buying anything else.

Started a bit slow but became hard to put down. Going back and fourth between the two lives was suspenseful in itself let alone the the storyline. Can't wait to read more.

This book has wonderful characters who you attach to. You feel what they feel. There are the perfect twists and turns. that are not overly obvious but more subtle like it's left wide open all the time. Keeping you on the edge.

A throne for sisters is a story that follows two sisters, Sophia and Kate. Both, Sophia and Kate live in an orphanage with a cruel staff and wants nothing more than to escape, be free and for once be happy in life. Their wish is soon granted but it is not what they excepted. The book follows both sisters as they both find their own version of freedom and happiness. Let me first start off by saying, this book ending with a cliffhanger. Overall the book is a dark book and the main characters are often in situations that inhumane and are treated very poorly. Sophia finds herself wanting to join the court of the palace and live happily ever after with a man to take care of her. At first Sophia was one of my favorite characters, but in the end, Sophia just wants to live a rich lifestyle. Throughout the whole book, she lives a lie and is sorry but not sorry enough to stop it. Sophia felt very shallow and honestly, irresponsible with her being the older sister. Kate, on the other hand, was very much a worth character. At 15, her main goal in life is to join the army and learn how to depend on her own self. She soon finds herself with some loyal friends who know her past, unlike Sophia, and is willing to help her live a life of fulfillment. Kate was my favorite sister to read about and the one I kept reading the book for. Kate is often handed difficult situations and she makes very mature decisions for her life. The plot itself was a bit slow the first 70 pages and then the last 80 or so pages is where the real actions comes on. The author doesn't really go into detail when describing the city of Ashton or the war they are fighting; you just knows it there and happening. Both sisters also experience flashbacks of what happened to their parents, but they don't truly remember how they died. All in all, I felt like A Throne for Sisters was not a bad read. I did enjoy it, but it isn't a favorite of all times. The book stops in the middle of the action and continues in the second book. I probably will pick up the second book but at a later time. This book is perfect for someone who is looking for an easy read, or someone who wants to dip their toes in YA Fantasy but not get overwhelmed.

Kate's is interesting. Too bad that Sophia's story is a fairy tale. Too little character development. Perhaps gets better in the next book.

Her writing is amazing. Very easy to get lost in what you picture going on. I could see me in the scenarios she presented

Just not my kind of story to read...not believable enough.

I found it to be somewhat tedious. I've read her books before and enjoyed them more. But I am going on to book two. Hoping for more!

This book included a couple swear words (b**** ). If this bothers, then don't read this book. Over all this is a good book that makes you wonder and hope. If you love fantasy and action, and don't mind getting a little emotional, then this is the book for you!

Rice has developed a complete world with riches, poverty, hate and love. Her characters are so well done they pop off the pages. This book has me looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I have to find out what happens to Kate and Sophia.

I'm actually on book 7 right now, but I figured it best to put my review on the first book since that's generally where people start. I can't remember the last time I've been hooked on a series, but I am! I was more drawn to Sophia's character initially but Kate's development got very interesting too. I'm not usually into fantasy writing but the story had unique characteristics and I really could visualize their lives. The books are short and maybe could have been combined to make fewer, longer books, but they are only a few dollars so who cares. After reading the first book, I honestly would have paid more than she was charging. Loved them! Starting book 7 now and already bought #8.
