Astasiya Davenport's best friend is dead. No, not just dead--murdered. Burned alive. Decapitated. And the only one who can help her figure out what happened is a demon masquerading as a billionaire playboy.

Because that happens in real life.

Yet Astasiya has always known the supernatural exists. Not the kind in fairy tales or happily-ever-afters, but the kind that kills.

Issac Wakefield knows the rules--when you find a fledgling immortal in the city, you kill her. Except Astasiya intrigues him with her uncanny abilities, marking her as too useful for death.

With revenge on his mind, he strikes up an agreement with her instead, one that'll benefit them both. But as complications arise, secrets unravel, initiating a lethal game that threatens both of their lives.

Loyalties will be tested.

Bonds will be made.

And a forbidden love will rise.

Welcome to the Immortal Curse world, where angels and vampires are redefined and Seraphim reign.

"What are you wearing under this dress?" he asked, his mouth brushing hers, the words whisper-soft.

Not what she expected him to say. "E-excuse me?"

His teeth sank into her lower lip, making her yelp. "Focus."

On what? The demon club? The humans dying downstairs? The fact that you're a f*cking vampire? Where should I begin?

He sighed, his forehead falling to hers. "Astasiya, we have very little time to sort this before the Conclave. I need you to work with me. Both our lives depend on it. What are you wearing?"

She cleared her throat, her hold on his neck tightening as if needing his support to respond. And maybe she did. This was all a lot to take in. "A, uh, thong," she managed to say. "And a strapless bra." Both black and lacy, but she didn't add that part.

One of his hands drifted from her hair to her waist, then down to her ass. His palm flattened and forced her to arch up into him. A breath hitched in her throat at the feel of his growing arousal.

He's turned on... here... now?

She trembled, the heat of his body seeping into her cool skin, warming her blood. They were standing rather close. And he smelled amazing, as always.

Anywhere else, in the dark, she'd have kissed him.

But here...

"The dress will have to stay, then," he said, the disappointment evident in his voice.

She frowned. "What's wrong with my dress?" It hit her midthigh and clung to her curves. She looked good in it.

He ignored her, his mouth brushing hers in a chaste kiss as his hips pressed firmly into hers.

Definitely aroused.

"You're going to see things tonight that will make you want to scream, but you must remain calm and quiet. Mortals who overreact die, and they die badly."

Blood Laws by Lexi C. Foss is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and Joel Froomkin. This is book one in the Immortal Curse Series and per the author notes there will be overarching themes and question left unanswered that set up the next book. But each book the hero and heroine couple will always have a “happy for now” or a “happily ever after” ending. This is the first book of Lexi’s that I have read/listened to and it definitely won’t be my last. Her writing style will pull you into the book. I just had to know what was going to happen next with Issac and Astasiya. It does take a bit too fully get into the book and understand where each character lies in the storyline. Sarah is an amazing narrator. I love the different voices she uses for each character. She does a great job bringing the storyline to life. Joel is a new narrator for me and it did take me quite a while to get into his parts of the storyline. I did listen to the audiobook on 1.5 – 1.75 speed, otherwise it seemed way to slow in both narrators parts. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Paranormal Romance or Fantasy books. #AudiobookObessionReviwer #AudioBookObsession

Great book ! I love the way the series started, there's so much information in book1. Stas gets thrown into a supernatural world she's new nothing about. Isaac falls for her when actually he's suppose to kill her for what she is. This book has a lot of suspense, love, and a lot of secrets. I can't wait to read book 2 to find out all the answers.

Wow!! I adored this so so much, it was just such an imaginative and fascinating beginning to this series and one that I am most definitely on board and invested with all the way. This author whilst relatively new to me has managed to pull it out the bag once again, this is the third book I have read by her and each one has managed to captivate and entrall from start to finish. Definitely auto-buy for me now and I can't wait to see what she manages to bring forth next. So, as usual, the world building here was up there with the best I've experienced to date and as an added incentive here the writing manages to drip-feed you into this fantastical world without confusing or totally overwhelming: very impressive undertaking indeed as the world is so vastly immense and intricate. Each instalment in this series focuses on one couple, but there is an ongoing story arc that makes this a series that you will need to read in order if that makes sense. This is actually a really hard premise to describe briefly but the short version to this is there are two opposing factions of supernaturals the Ichorians and the Hydraians who though currently at a ceasefire and a tentative declaration of a truce are actually on the brink of war breaking out. Anastasiya Davenport and Issac Wakefield are somehow caught up in the middle of this conflict. Obviously, there is a lot more to this than what Ive outlined here but that's the bare bones of it. So characters: I adored the relationship dynamic between Anastasiya and Issac and the almost slow burn build up to there affair. Though of slow burn in nature, this didn't miss out at all from that fact as there was plenty of sensual heated buildup provided to the main event. The connection between these two was off the charts and projected off the page itself with its compelling intensity and I could feel their particular bond right down to my very bones themselves. I also really did like Issac as a character and all his darlings and loves towards Anastasiya I found to be so incredibly charming indeed. I especially appreciated Issac's ability to allow Aya to be her own person and make her own decisions regardless of how they impacted on his personal fear for her safety. He respected her right to make her own choices which was refreshing. Anastasiya I also liked but she could be a trifle naive in nature trusting a tad to blindly, she did get there eventually but always seemed to take the scenic route along the way. In conclusion, this was a series that started with a massive bang and though we get some closure offered here there are still plenty of answers I'm waiting on to be revealed at a later date. I for one can't wait to delve and explore deeper into this fascinating landscape we have been shown here. This one gets my five-star seal of approval it was a fantastic experience that I recommend highly. I voluntary reviewed a copy of "Blood Laws (Immortal Curse #1)". All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

What a great introduction into this world. I couldn't seem to put down this series once I started. Stas has always felt different from the average human. She has a psychic ability that bends people to her will with a simple command. She's always thought she'd been able to hide out in New York after her parent's death, but when her best friend is murdered in a similar fashion her parents were, she knows that their murder was no simple mistake. What starts out as a simple deal to find out more about the power she seems to posses opens a completely new world for Stas that she could've never imagined and a forbidden romance that has absolutely no future. While this book is considered complete, I said this was a cliffhanger because there are many more questions left unanswered about Stas and her past that the reader doesn't discover in this book. At the end we also understand that Issac and Stas's relationship is completely forbidden and will never progress from what they have, at least until Stas embraces her heritage and her immortality.

Astasiya, Stas, meets a sinfully sexy man. Unfortunately, that's also when she discovers her friend murdered. Isaac doesn't know what to do with the beautiful blonde. After learning more about her, he starts feeling well feelings for her.

This was such a fantastic PNR. Stac and Isaac are just awesome, I loved them. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so be ready to be left hanging and needing the next in the series ASAP. This is a story about 2 different worlds that have their own sets of rules that could mean death if the rules are broken. However, after Isaac gets to know Stas, those rules mean nothing. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe!!!!!!!

This is an incredible story line. I love the backstory of the Hydraians and the Ichorians. Stas and Issac have a pretty volatile relationship in that they are hot together. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series to find out what Owen's role was in all this and what Tom ends up doing.

I enjoyed this immensely! It was different and kept me reading until I was done! Its not a short book either. The blurb was intriguing and it was exciting from the start. I have to admit Issac was A LOT to take! I wasn't sure I liked him that much to be honest. One moment you liked him and the next your cursing him! By the end I really loved him though. I do wish we knew a little more about him as a person. He can be quite cold sometimes but considering how old he is and what he's dealt with in his life it fits. He had 1 gift but I knew he was deadly and I would have liked to have more about that. Like was he a warrior what he was trained in etc. It was glossed over a little. Thats ok though it didnt take away from the story. Just something I thought of after reading the book. I loved Stas. She's a strong woman and honestly took everything that happened to her quite well. Oh there were times she freaked the heck out but she put on her big girl panties and dealt with it. The ending....I wanted it to end a little better. Its not a HEA but HFN and the series is going on so hopefully we get more. Enjoyable read and I recommend!

At first Blood Laws seemed like the common books you find on a paranormal romance shelf. A hot powerful guy who make woman stupid In a world of mysterious paranormal powers. HOWEVER it's not! The story, Blood Laws, is very ORIGINAL with the introduction of Ichorians, Hybraian, Fledgling, and Seraphim. There's more but you need to read it to know what they are. The world that author Lexi C. Foss has created in her story is something that will stick with me forever. In one page she incite enough questions that lasted right up to the end. I love that there's always a pull to flip to the next page. Then back again. Part 2 can't come fast enough!! Honestly I was sucked in quickly and couldn't put it down. Stas is a woman who held herself together and was easy to like. Hints of the unknown and new made me frustrated right along with Stas just as the urge to keep going and learning was undeniable. I started to make a list of what's what's and who's who. As the story moves along I really liked it even more and the characters, not just the amazing hot guy, and his hot friends. Yes I said hot GUYS. There's a lot to this story, it's hot, it's shocking, it has a dusting of comedy, and a lot of mystery. Throughout it all there are Easter eggs just waiting to be found and picked up. It explained more and more as the pages are turned. Once pieced together, and the list forgotten I finished the book and couldn't wait a day to start it again.

Once you start, you don't want to stop. A very steady pace is set and flows wonderfully. The characters are well developed and keep you invested. A woman who doesn't know who or what she really is, stumbles upon a hidden world of immortals when she get finds her friend dead in his apartment. A sexy mystery man realizes she is special and starts a game of cat and mouse. Can they find a happily ever after when their lives are worlds apart and they are meant to be enemies? The first book in the Immortal Curse series, the ending made me want to curse and hoped it really wasn't the last page. I can't wait for the next book to come out!

This is a new to me series and author so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I got wrapped up in the story. Before I knew it, it was 2am and I had to be up at 6 to get the kids to school. That is the mark of an excellent story. This book is about Stas, who has the power of persuasion and Isaac, an Ichorian immortal (type of vampire) who meet in unusual circumstances. This story mixes together romance, a suspenseful plot line and the threads of future books. If I didn't know that this was more of a serial story line rather than a series, I probably would've been upset because it doesn't sum up the story between Stas and Isaac, it only leaves more questions unanswered. However, he book was well written which will keep me coming back time and again to any author. The book had just enough of the history of the Ichorians and Hydraians to understand without bogging the story down with explanations of the world that this is based in. I will definitely be keeping this author on my watch list for future books in this series and others.

Blood Laws – Immortal Curse Series Book 1 of 2 by Lexi C Foss – 5 Stars Blood Laws is the first in a two book series called “Immortal Curse” and it was FANTASTIC. This paranormal story is classified on Amazon as Gothic Romance. It could actually be classified as so many other genres: suspense and mystery and intrigue and romance and smoking hot sex and billionaire CEOs and – well you get the idea. Come to think of it, this story is unusual in that it had all of my favorites. This is the story of Stas and Isaac. She has just graduated from college and is about to embark on her future and he is the billionaire CEO who has a whole other life that not many know about. The way this story is written pulled me in from beginning to end. I actually fell asleep with this book in my hands because I DID NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN. The mystery surrounding Stas, her friend Owen and her parents had me jumping to early conclusions. I really thought I had the story all figured out. The story flowed seamlessly and while there was a lot of detail, it was not so much that it ever felt overwhelming. The secondary characters were also fascinating to read about and I hope this series continues beyond book 2. I have already pre-ordered book 2 and am anxiously awaiting for August 1, 2017. I’ve previously read (and thoroughly enjoyed) Lexi C. Foss’s book titled “The Prince’s Game” which was classified as a romantic comedy. Ms. Foss has a writing style that can obviously change up based on the story she is writing. She has become a “no questions asked, I will just one-click and read’ author for me.

Blood Laws (Immortal Curse Series Book 1) by Lexi C. Foss 5 Stars Violence erupted back in the 18th century between the Ichorians and the Hydraians, when the Hydraians proved to be too strong of a force and many lives were lost, the Ichorians agreed to stop fighting while negotiations were held and a treaty was developed safeguarding their individual interests and international boundaries were set. The Ichorians claimed New York City as their capital and any Hydraians crossing into the city did this at their own risk of being killed. This was a peace agreement from then on known as the Blood Laws. Astasiya (Stas) knows she is not just a normal human, and she has known this since her parents brutal death years ago, a death she watched from her treehouse. She was adopted by a wonderful family, but secrets were hidden regarding her past that she doesn't even understand. She has a great best friend/roommate who is constantly trying to get her to date, and she has some but they all end quickly because relationships just aren't her thing and she definitely has no interest in marriage. Isaac, is not a human but portrays one. He is an immortal who is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company, and his main objective in life is to seek revenge on a former ally who killed his sister, his reputation is that of a playboy, and one of New York City’s most eligible bachelors. Stas and Isaac meet under horrific circumstances, and although he knows he should kill her, he figures out pretty quickly that she could be quite useful in his mission. He didn't factor in that he would find himself falling for the sassy, sarcastic blonde who is immune to his special abilities, seeing also that she has her own special ability. Stas knows she shouldn't feel safe with this man she has nicknamed “demon”, but for some reason she does and as their connection grows, she starts learning more and more about the people around her and herself. Their connection should not happen, and if too many truths are revealed lives could be in danger, hers especially. As their bond gets stronger and his plans change a bit, can this unlikely pair trust each other as others forces are at play to tear them apart? Are either of them willing to risk everything to stay together? This was a page turner, and sometimes I felt as though I couldn't read it fast enough to turn the page. This is my second book by this author and she has now become one of my favorites. Her stories flow perfectly and she builds her characters so that you can't help but fall in love with them. I can not wait to read the next book in this series and see where these two and others end up and what is in store for all of them. I Loved It!!!

Blood Laws is a wonderful UF/PNR by new to me author Lexi C. Foss. It has a terrific new take on vampires and introduces us to a convoluted world where you don’t know who the good guys are. This is a twisted tale of love and intrigue and it left me wanting more. I received a copy of this book and chose to review it

Lexi weaved and stitched together a complicated and unique paranormal love story. There is so much information in this one book at first it was hard to imagine she could be writing this as a series. Once you hit half way you know there is lot more to come. The first couple chapters read like general paranormal books, but the rest of the book is truly unique. I love the female lead. I’m glad she is tough and not in need of rescue. The characters are complex and were a joy to learn about. Wonderfully written. Properly edited and formatted. An indie book done better than many publishing house books. The beginning was slower than the end but no parts were too fast or two slow. A couple scenes felt like there was too little or too much information but I’m assuming this is because they pertain to the rest of the books in the series. I can’t wait to discover how. I don’t want to spoil any part of the book so order it now.
