Romantic suspense is my favorite genre, and "Buried Lies" hits that spot for me. Noah and Poppy's story had all the elements that make a great read for the genre. Noah, the town's sheriff with a heart of gold, is one of those people that is loved by everyone. Poppy, being new in town, makes friends and fits in quite well, especially with Noah. A slow build in their romance, the drama and suspense kick in with mind numbing horror when it is discovered that a killer is on the loose. Poppy is missing. Finding her in time before the killer completes his work makes this a page turning read. 4.5 Stars! **I received "Buried Lies" from NetGalley & Kobo and leave my review based on my reading**

She moved to Crimson Point and made a new life for herself, one full of bright possibilities and if Poppy can find the courage to trust again – even her gorgeous neighbor, the town sheriff. Noah can’t help but be intrigued by his new neighbor, she’s hard working, sexy and unlike most of the women in town, she hasn’t thrown herself at him. But darkness lurks in Crimson Point, concealing a deadly threat that’s closer than either of them ever imagined. The author has created a great community with lots of strong characters that readers can look forward to getting to know which makes a great setting for multiple stories and this one is not only engaging but quite suspenseful and moving as well. The romance between Noah and Poppy has lots of chemistry flowing from the pages as well emotions as Noah tries to win Poppy’s heart who had a very traumatic childhood. Noah is a sexy hero with a tender heart that makes his courtship of Poppy super sweet and very touching. The plot is fast paced and full of thrilling suspense and adrenaline pumping excitement as Noah has a serial killer case he’s working on with the FBI and then there are exciting events that not only get the juices flowing but helps Poppy become part of the community she wants to fit into. With the danger lurking closer than they know, some surprising twists, the turbulent relationship between another couple and the growing passion between Noah and Poppy, there is never a dull moment and readers will find themselves glued to the pages of this exhilarating read.

A great lovely story full of suspense, mystery action, love, and strong community bond. Poppy decides to start her new life at Crismon Point. Her neighbor and the one who helps her the most is town sheriff and the first man after a long time that makes her feel more. Feelings are mutual and they start a relationship but serial killer ruins it all. Will Poppy be saved? I loved the story both characters were great their attraction hot, and their attraction keeps building and building until explodes in sensual heat. I loved that story was not predictable that it didn't show who was the killer. What it bothered me was POV from persons that will be in the next book. A great intense read that keeps you on the toes and restores your faith in humanity because we see so strong community bond in Crismon Point where people help each other without asking and bill. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Having read both books in this exceptional romantic suspense series I can honestly say that this one is going to keep you up all night! Crimson Point is a friendly, close knit small town on the Oregon coast that appeals to Poppy Larson from the moment she arrives. It’s beautiful, picturesque, and a long way from the unhappy childhood she left behind. The town sheriff, Noah Buchanan, lives right next door and knowing he’s there makes Paige feel safe with the romance that starts to grow between them. But Paige’s sense of security is shattered by the appearance of a serial killer that has been hiding in plain sight and It’s going to take every bit of Paige’s courage and Noah’s tactical training to save her life and her sanity when evil comes calling. This author’s writing talent made me feel like I was inside Paige’s mind while she fights for her life and her sanity. And my heart broke into a million pieces while Noah tries to come to grips with the reality that he might not find her in time. This is a superbly crafted story that is one of the best romantic suspense stories I have ever read. I was so emotionally connected to the heroine I cried with relief and I know these characters will stay with me for a very long time to come. I you holding your breath and sobbingwill stay with me for a very long time. I read a complimentary copy of this book provided by Kobo Writing Life through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

Poppy is new in town and Noah's new neighbor. He is immediately attracted to her but realizes that he has to proceed carefully because he senses that she is a little shy. Poppy becomes the hometown heroine when she joins the search for a missing girl and is the one to find her. Poppy then becomes the latest obsession of the area serial killer. Will Noah be able to figure out who the killer is and where he's taken Poppy before it's too late?

I really enjoyed Buried Lies and it was a great follow up to the previous one in the series. Poppy has finally opened her bookstore/bakery and she's determined to make a new home in Crimson Point. As a teenager, Poppy was horribly bullied by other kids at school and lies and rumors trashed her reputation around her judgmental small town. Poppy will do anything to make sure no one knows about her hard past. I loved Poppy as our heroine; she's incredibly hard working and dedicated but also really sweet. She's had to grow up fast and her experiences have her reluctant to trust other people, especially men. Poppy has a quiet and gentle nature that comes across really nicely but she's also so resilient and strong and I loved that contrast of strength and shyness. Looking out for others is deep in Noah's blood and bones and it's why he's a Sheriff. He's the perfect protective and loyal hero who recognizes Poppy's needs and goes at her pace. Noah's tough and masculine but I also loved that he has a softer side that just wants to make Poppy happy. I also truly appreciate that Kaylea Cross wrote a hero who isn't obsess with the fact that his ex-wife cheated on him This was so refreshing in the genre because it showed Noah's maturity and his confidence that he can move on and still find happiness. Noah and Poppy take things slowly in their relationship but I liked this slow burn because it felt very natural for the story and them as individuals. While they might go slowly they have plenty of chemistry and I loved them together. We also get to see some more developments in our side characters, Molly and Jase, setting up their story which I have a feeling will be pretty emotional. Outside the romance, there was a great suspenseful mystery regarding a serial killer that has been hunting in the nearby areas and has now targeted Poppy. I found it very interesting that a large part of the story occurs after Poppy's run-in with our bad guy and I liked how Cross explored the mental and emotional toll of that experience. I'm very curious to see how this series continues.

An action-packed romantic suspense from beginning to end. Poppy Larsen is new to Crimson Point and is opening the “Whale’s Tale”, a bookstore & tea room. In addition, she is working on restoring the home she has purchased…next door to the town sheriff’s home. Noah Buchanan is Sheriff of Crimson Point and intrigued by his new neighbor. She is lovely and a hard worker and he is attracted to her love of life and joy. Young women have gone missing near Crimson Point and it is feared that a serial killer has invaded their town. Is the killer using Crimson Point to select his victims or is he someone even closer? A threat to Poppy will come through social media from her past. Beginning with her childhood, she was a victim of bullying and looked on this move as a fresh start. Will false allegations from her past follow her? Will she be able to remain in Crimson Point or must she leave her home and new-found friends? A wonderful and heart racing mystery as Noah works to remove the evil from town and keep Poppy safe. A must-read book two of the series as we catch up on Beckett and Sierra (from book one). I can’t wait for “Shattered Lies” book three and more about Molly. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

BURIED LIES is the second instalment in Kaylea Cross’ contemporary, adult CRIMSON POINT romantic suspense series focusing on the people of Crimson Point, Oregon, and a group of former Special Forces soldiers. This is thirty-eight year old Crimson Point Sheriff Noah Buchanan, and twenty-six year old café/book store owner Poppy Larsen’s story line. BURIED LIES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from several third person points of view including Poppy and Noah BURIED LIES follows the building relationship between is thirty-eight year old Crimson Point Sheriff Noah Buchanan, and twenty-six year old café/book store owner Poppy Larsen. Crimson Point newcomer Poppy Larsen has caught the eye of Sheriff Noah Buchanan, her next door neighbour and the man who stirs something deep inside but Poppy left behind a heart breaking and emotional past, and was hoping to move forward without bringing unwanted attention in the small town of Crimson Point. But things don’t always go according to plans, when Sheriff Noah Buchanan insists on giving them a chance, a chance that may threaten Poppy’s hard fought independence. What ensues is the building relationship between Poppy and Noah, and the potential fall-out as Poppy is targeted by a serial killer determined to make Poppy his final target. Poppy Larsen doesn’t like to be reminded of what she left behind but the past has a way of catching up and destroying any semblance of happiness and peace. As her café continues to thrive, small-town bullies continue to stalk our heroine ensuring everyone knows what happened and why. Noah Buchanan is desperate to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love but Poppy’s need for independence threatens all good sense including her own safety. When Poppy goes missing, Noah struggles to remain professional in spite of his job, a job that brings him up close and personal with a serial killer. The relationship between Noah and Poppy is one of immediate attraction but Poppy believes she is in no place to start a relationship in the face of the potential fall-out when the truth is revealed. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. We are reintroduced to Sierra and Beckett (Fractured Honor #1), as well as Carter Boyd and his wife Molly, Jase Weaver, and the introduction of Her Majesty’s Royal Marine Aidan MacIntyre. The requisite evil has many faces, some more familiar than others. The world building continues to focus on the crumbling relationship between Carter and Molly as the lingering affect of head injuries suffered during the war in Syria push Carter beyond any semblance of reason or control. BURIED LIES is a story of discrimination, heartbreak, friendship and love. The premise is suspenseful and dramatic ; the characters are animated, courageous and spirited; the romance is spicy and sassy. BURIED LIES will capture your attention from the very start.

This book had one of the creepiest bad guys I've ever read. OMG! This book kept me glued to it. Poppy and Noah were great characters. I also loved the secondary characters. Definitely ready for the next book in the series.

I LOVE a good romantic suspense. Nora Roberts is my all-time favorite author in that genre. But Kaylea Cross isn’t too far behind! I’ve been a fan of her writing for a few years now, and I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with any of her books. And Buried Lies definitely did NOT disappoint. Poppy left a painful past behind for a fresh start. Her past isn’t what draws the killer to her, but it’s something that so many people face, and her determination to build a new life, even when that past touches it, is inspiring. Noah is the hot cop that lives next door. He didn’t think he was looking for a relationship, but Poppy is everything he never knew he needed. Will their love have time to grow and bloom, or will a killer cut it all short? There’s so much to this book that it’s hard to say much without spoiling something in it, and I hate spoilers. But what I can say is that this book is very well-written, with strong character development in both the main characters and the minor characters, and a killer so chilling he might give you nightmares! Along with Poppy and Noah’s story, the author begins building interest for the reader regarding other characters and future books. Which is a great technique to hook us and leave us eagerly anticipating the next book. And that’s most assuredly where she left me! I could NOT put this book down, and the author truly had me guessing between 3 potential suspects until the very end, which I love. I read a lot of romantic suspense, so when I’m able to figure out who the killer/bad guy is early on in the story, it tends to make the plot of the book fall flat. And somehow I missed the first book in this series, so I'm off to remedy that right now! If you love romantic suspense, you are going to want to pick this one up TODAY!

Wow, what a great story. I discovered Ms Cross when I read , and loved Fractured Honor, the first book of this series. After this one, I am a fan forever. The series centers around a group of childhood friends whose friendship has continued into adulthood. This story belongs to now Sheriff Noah Buchanan and his new neighbor, Poppy Larsen. Poppy has moved to Crimson Point to start a new business, and a new chapter in her life, away from the sorrows and heartaches of her past. She is very cautious and holds her heart close to her for fear of getting hurt once again. Noah was wonderful with her and helps her feel comfortable not only with him but also with his friends, as they include her in their circle. But evil surrounds the town and someone is out to kidnap her. A big surprise as to who the serial killer. But the author doesn’t stop there. The secondary characters , Molly and Carter , have a story within the story. Suffice is to say, the plot is engaging, filled with an emotional rollercoaster, a serial killer, heartbreaking moments ,and strong complex characters. It is at times heartbreaking, heart stopping but also heartwarming. Another winner in this series. I can’t wait to see what else this talented author has in store for us in the next book of this series. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
