Join USA TODAY bestselling author Sheila Roberts this Christmas as she returns for the final installment in her treasured Icicle Falls series

When Muriel Sterling released her new book, A Guide to Happy Holidays, she felt like the queen of Christmas. She’s thrilled when the new tree she ordered online arrives and is eager to show it off—until she gets it out of the box and realizes it’s a mangy dud. But rather than give up on the ugly tree, Muriel decides to make a project out of it. As she pretties up her tree, she realizes there’s a lesson to be learned: everything and everyone has potential. Maybe even her old friend Arnie, who’s loved her for years. Except she’s not the only one seeing Arnie’s potential…

Meanwhile, Muriel’s ugly-tree project has also inspired her friends. Sienna Moreno is trying to bring out the best in the grouchy man next door, who hates noise, hates kids and hates his new neighbors. And while Olivia Claussen would love to send her obnoxious new daughter-in-law packing, she’s adjusting her attitude and trying to discover what her son sees in the girl. If these women can learn to see the beauty in the “ugly trees” in their lives, perhaps this might turn out to be the happiest holiday yet.

This is the last installment of the series. It is the story of Muriel, Arnie, Olivia, Sienna and their families. The Christmas tree that Muriel ordered arrives as a dud. It certainly wasn't the one pictured online. It is then that the author of A GUIDE TO HAPPY HOLIDAYS decides to make the best of it and not give up on the tree. This was a really nice story for Christmas. I think the lesson that Muriel and her friends learn is one we can all learn; that everything and everyone has potential. The "ugly Christmas tree" idea will make you want to see the good in people in your lives. Maybe perhaps it will make your life happier.

It took me a while to read this book. Not because it was bad. Not because it was a slow read. But mainly because I did not want this series to end. Ever. If you are a fan of Ms. Robert’s books and more importantly, the Icicle Falls series, then you know you will catch up with most of the characters from the previous books. This one is no different. Muriel Sterling orders a tree off the Internet and when it arrives, she finds it’s not the beautiful tree as pictured, but more on the scale of the one from the A Charlie Brown Christmas. Awful. Hideous. Pitiful. Ugly. She dubs it her ugly tree. But, rather than return the tree and complain, she’s determined to make the tree stunning and encourages those surrounding her to do the same with someone they know; see the beauty that lies beneath. This is what begins a stunning Christmas project for the residents of Icicle Falls. If you don’t think that’s a terrific story line, you may just be just like the ugly tree! As the story unfolded, I laughed, I cried and I even saw some ugly trees around me turn in to beautiful trees. My Christmas wish for all of you is that you get this book (or any others by this author) in your stocking, or under your tree! And then go out into the world and work to make all the ugly trees in your life beautiful. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm part of Ms. Roberts's street team. I got this book for free from the author for my honest review.

Christmas in Icicle Falls is the first Sheila Roberts book I’ve read. It’s the last in the Icicle Falls series, which is just one of many series penned by the author, so I’m not sure how I’ve missed reading her novels so far. But it’s a very enjoyable standalone book, so a good introduction to the author’s characters, style and stories. Plus it’s a Christmas story, perfect for the season. It involves an ugly artificial tree, made beautiful with wise decoration. And it involves very real, messed-up human lives, made equally beautiful. Single mom Sienna Moreno just wants a safe environment for her developmentally challenged son. Local author Muriel Sterling wants lots of people to find Christmas joy in her book. Friend Arthur wants Muriel to go on vacation with him. And the grouchy old man just wants… to be a grouch perhaps. As the story continues, backstories add just enough depth to each character, creating believable quirks and compelling explanations, decorating human imperfection with touches of delight, and leading to happy conclusions. Simple acts of kindness add up. Simple misunderstandings retreat. And messed-up relationships give way to trust. It’s a sweet novel, with just enough tart for laughter, heartache and hope. It stands alone easily if, like me, you've not read the rest of the series, and it ends with sweet recipes too. Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

I really liked the multi-generational aspect of this story as well as the return to Icicle Falls. The three main storylines meld very well and I didn't feel it jumped around between viewpoints too much. Muriel Sterling, matriarch of the Sweet Dreams Chocolate Company family and local author, deals with the loneliness and jealousies that can arise at holiday time. Newcomer and single mother Sienna Moreno, along with son Leo, look for kindness among their neighbors and new friends. And the return visit to the family running a local german themed inn was heartwarming as well, with Olivia learning how to open her heart to another new daughter-in-law. There is truly something for everyone in this solid holiday read.

Once again Sheila Roberts has written a heart warming Christmas story. The "ugly Christmas tree", that Muriel had ordered on line. Now the town will come together to beautify it. The true meaning of it, everything and everyone has potential. True to her story telling, there a few different stories over lapping in the book. Plenty of emotions that will keep you turning the pages. Very sad to say good by to Icicle Falls, I feel like they are my friends from this town. I laughed and cried with so many. Looking forward to her new series and new friends. I highly recommend this book during this holiday season.

Sheila Roberts has done it again! I'm sad that this is the final chapter of the Icicle Falls series - it's been one of my favorites! No spoilers from me, but let's just say that this book really hit home, particularly since I've had a number "ugly tree" Christmases in the past. I love how each character within the book were able to overcome individual obstacles and help each other, too. The bond of friendship is so heartwarming - just like the whole book, and the whole series. If you've never read any of the Icicle Falls books, you must! You don't have to start with the first one, as they each are perfect 'stand alone' books, but it's nice to feel like you're visiting an old friend with each subsequent edition. A little bittersweet that this concludes Icicle Falls - but Sheila never disappoints with any of her books, so I look forward to whatever and wherever the next adventure will be!

As I was reading it, I wanted to start decorating for Christmas! Sheila does a great job of making sure you know who everyone is even if you haven't been able to read the other books in the series. Sheila's books do a great job of bringing you into the lives of all the characters involved and this book is no different. Fall in love with Muriel and Arnie. See Mr. Cratchett warm to Serena and his new lady friend. See how the Ugly Tree project changes lives in Icicle Falls. This book will leave you wanting more books in the series and it will leave you sad to leave Icicle Falls.

Reading this book was so bittersweet knowing that it was the last book in the Icicle Falls series. I have so enjoyed my visits to this beautiful town and all of the "friends" I've made there. If you're already a fan of this series then you will love the double dose of Muriel. She has a new book out full of her usual doses of wisdom. It's nice to see her finally get her moment in the sun. Especially since she has always been a personal favorite of mine. You will also get to meet the new addition to Olivia's family, Meadow. I'll be honest, in the beginning (much like Olivia) I was not Meadows #1 fan but by the end of the book I was rooting for her big time. Brava Sheila! Christmas in Icicle Falls is definitely my new favorite. I hate to say goodbye to this series but I am very much looking forward to whatever new excitement you throw our way with your next series.

Icicle Sheila Roberts’s newest book, CHRISTMAS IN ICICLE FALLS, is another favorite read! We again meet Muriel Sterling, she writes books of encouragement and positive thoughts. Yet, it seems she can’t move forward herself. She finds herself stuck in both her book ideas and in her love life. As Muriel prepares for her annual Christmas tea, she is unprepared to find herself with the ugliest and only tree left in the town. How she turns this ugly tree into a glorious creation becomes the theme of each person’s stories. We meet a new member to the community named, Sienna Moreno. She is a single mom making a fresh start with a special needs son. She uses the inspirational quotes from one of Muriel’s books to help her deal with a difficult older neighbor that unbeknownst to her, becomes her Ugly Tree project. The rewards are more than she ever expected! Then, there is Olivia, she owns the Inn and has everything to be thankful for. She has found love again. Her two sons have moved back (with one, married to the perfect daughter-in-law with a baby on the way) and, are all living under one roof. The only hiccup is that the second son also has recently married. And, she is everything the perfect daughter-in-law isn’t. Can Summer become her Ugly Tree project? Sheila Roberts writes such enjoyable books! Her Icicle Falls series has made us fall in love with a lovely German themed town on the foothills of the Pacific Northwest and its inhabitants. CHRISTMAS IN ICICLE FALLS is the final book in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed these books and highly recommend them. I will miss visiting Falls but, can’t wait for the next book series to start!

Christmas in Icicle Falls This book is the last in the series and I am both happy and sad. Happy because it ended on a wonderful note and a new series will begin soon. Sad because I absolutely loved Icicle Falls. I do NOT give away spoilers so if you looking for that…sorry! Shelia Roberts out did herself in the final book of Icicle Falls. She brought out the kindness in her characters, love to share abundantly and caring for everyone. Muriel, Arnie, Dot, Sienna, Tim, Leo, Ashley, Amy, Olivia, Brooke, Meadow and so many more wonderful characters to enjoy. Her characters had many things to conquer in each their own way. They had the task of making an “ugly tree” into something beautiful. The “ugly tree” for everyone was something different. It was a large learning curve for everyone but the story told was magnificent. I cannot stress enough how good this book was and the best book I have read in a long while. Don’t take my word for it… it!!

This last visit to Icicle Falls is a wonderfully delightful way to wrap up the series. This is definitely one series I am going to miss especially during the holiday season. This story is packed full of all kind of emotions. It made me laugh, cry, sad, and happy. As with most of the books there are several stories going on at once while having a common thread. In this one the thread is The Ugly Tree! What was suppose to be a spectacular new artificial tree turns out the be much less than that. Seems like the whole town gets in on the project to turn The Ugly Tree into a thing of beauty. During the process the true meaning of the season definitely takes hold and makes for one beautiful Christmas for everyone. Put this one on the must read list for this holiday season. It's easily read standalone and you don't want to miss it.

In (sadly) the last of the icicle falls series Sheila Roberts does it again. Take Three of the most different women and mash them together and you get nothing but a roller coaster of a ride. Oliva has to deal with her new daughter in law who she doesn’t start out liking and a daughter who is her everything. Will teaching her the family business bring them closer? Then theres the very well liked and loved city celebrity author Mueriel Sterling- Whitman who is dealing with the loss of her second husband. Along with trying to stay “just friends” with her long time friend Arnie will this be a christmas for them both to remember or will it be like her “ugly tree contest”. Finally theres Sienna single mother of sweet little Leo. With her grumpy neighbor and a child with learning disabilities and a job at the bookstore this single mom has a lot on her plate but when she meet her grinch neighbors nephew a lot changes. This is by far one of my favorite of Sheila's books, sad to see this series end I know with Sheila's works I’m sure she’s got something just as magical in store for all of us soon. This is truly a book you will love and devour.

I loved, loved, loved this story. Christmas in Icicle Falls really gets you thinking about your "ugly tree attitude". This is the last in the series, so it's kind of a bittersweet ending. Sad that it's over but very, very thankful that I read it. If you need a "push" to get into the Christmas spirit, this is the book for you...or if your dealing with a "ugly tree" yourself. Christmas in Icicle Fallls is the last in the Icile Falls series, you can read them as a stand alone, however, im warning you know once you read one, you will read them all. You can NOT go wrong with a book written by Sheila. Christmas in Icicle falls focuses on "the ugly tree" project. Muriel, the town celebrity so to speak. She writes "self help books". Her latest book (A Guide to Happy Holidays) is about getting through the holidays while dealing with people that have (or you yourself have) a "ugly tree attitude". Muriel herself orders a tree online, gets it and its nothing like she thought, she see's potential in the tree, she knows that the tree can be decorated and look good....this is where the "ugly tree" project comes from. At Muriels party her and some friends agree to work on the ugly trees in their circle. Muriel starts to see potential in Arnie, but she's not the only one. Muriel is know having a tough time keeping her ugly tree attitude in check. Olivia's son has brought his new wife home to meet mom (Olivia) well Olivia can not see any reason that Brandon could marry someone like Willow....she's the complete oposite of what Brandon would date. Can Olivia fix up HER ugly tree attitude and move forward with Willow and Brandon? Seinna is a single mom and new to Icicle Falls, she has a cousin who lives here to help her out if needed. She has a 9 year old son who needs alot of attention. Seinnas new neighbor has a real ugly tree attitude towards her and her son.....seriously can this guy be human with this attiude? Seinna has read Muriel's book and is using advice to try and loosen up Mr. Cratchett. Will it work? Seinna meets Cratchetts nephew....oh boy does she like him!!! Can they build a lasting relationship....after all he is Cratchetts family.... This is a MUST READ!!!!! you will love it!!! I did receive this book from the author for my HONEST review. This review is all mine.

Is there such a thing as an ugly Christmas Tree?? Surely not, especially in Icicle Falls - the delightful mountain community created in the beloved Life in Icicle Falls series by the incomparable Sheila Roberts, inspired by the very real and delightful mountian community of Leavenworth, Washington. When Muriel Sterling - author of A GUIDE TO HAPPY HOLIDAYS - opened her Internet purchase of a new, artificial tree, she couldn’t believe her eyes. “ ... an insult to Christmas ... “ was her immediate thought! It was a bittersweet reading for me as I wandered once again through the lives of the wonderful people who have come to life for the devoted readers of this series. In this final visit to Icicle Falls Ms Roberts never disappoints in her characters’ dilemmas, dramas, dialogues, and debacles! CHRISTMAS IN ICICLE FALLS gives the reader everything you expect to find in a Sheila Roberts romance ... sweet heroines - manly heroes - cute kids - mix in snow, cookies, icy roads, jealous friends, disappointing in-laws, a not-so-secret crush that’s lasted a lifetime, great food, ugly trees, lousy “ex’s”, Santa, and of course some Sweet Dreams chocolates - toss in a tough cop and mix it all together like only Sheila Roberts can ... As with all of the books in the Icicle Falls series, CHRISTMAS IN ICICLE FALLS can be read and loved as a stand-alone book. But why would anyone want to do that?? Start with this book and then go treat yourself with the rest!

So this is the last book in the Icicle Falls series. I’m sad that it’s ending but can’t wait to see what little Sheila has in store for us next. I’m going to miss this town, but it was wonderful to tie up all the loose ends. Muriel Sterling, Local writer from Icicle falls and the Queen of a chocolate factory has had two loves of her life and widowed both times. Is there room in her life for one last love? Well, Muriel doesn’t think so, but Arnie might just change her mind, unless her friend Dot has anything to do with it. And our new friend Sierra, single mom to a special little 9 year old who needs a lot of attention. How will she ever find a man, especially with mean Mr. Cratchett living next door. Well if Mr. Cratchetts nephew has his way, he might just break through that tough facade and help Sierra find love again., And finally what to do about Meadow. Meadow is Olivia Clausse’s new daughter in law, a bit rough around the edges, but Olivia’s son Brandon loves her so. Can she work with Meadow, and what about Meadows Mom? So when all the ladies have a holiday get together at Muriel’s house, they see how Muriel transformed her sad little fake tree into a beautiful holiday tree. So that’s when they all hatch a plan to fix their own “ugly trees” in there life. Can these women, get past the “ugly trees” in there life and turn them into something wonderful? Well you’re just going to have to read the book,! Excellent book, I give it 5 amazing stars..

I am sad that this is the last book in this series and I will no longer be able to visit Icicle Falls. Once again the author takes us to the magical town of Icicle Falls to catch up with our friends we have all come to love. This time we get to follow along with Muriel as she struggles with jealousy. Since she is the one who has written the self help books that all the ladies enjoy reading it was hard to imagine her struggling with this issue but at the same time to see that not all are perfect. I liked the idea behind the ugly tree as we all have an ugly tree in our lives and should figure out a way to make it beautiful. Then we go to me Sienna and her little boy. What a nice woman who just deserves to be happy. If was fun watching her become a part of the town and the way she handled Mr. Cratchett and how he changed because of it. We also watched as Olivia tried to welcome a new daughter in law that she was not too happy about. I like Olivia and would have felt the same as she did about her daughter in law. What a character she was but in the end I really liked her and felt bad for her. I have loved this author's writing style are her books just flow and the story jumps off the pages. It is a can't put down book for me. This has been one of my favorite series and a go to author for me, luckily she will be giving us a new series next year. I am looking forward to seeing what she has in store for us readers.
