About the Author

Eirik Gumeny is over six feet tall and enjoys sugar. Originally from the highway-choked suburbs of New Jersey, he now lives in the mile-high desert of New Mexico. He is very pale and it is very sunny, so he will probably combust any day now.

Eirik is the author of the Exponential Apocalypse series, co-author of Screw the Universe, and a folder of origami cranes. His short fiction has been published in a number of journals and anthologies, including Thieves Jargon, Untoward, and Monkeybicycle.

I was the kid who would lay on the ground watching clouds and all I would see was clouds! That's probably why I have so much respect for anyone with an imagination like Eirik Gumeny. This series is one in which I can never predict what will happen next because everything is so off-the-wall and utterly unpredictable. Although there is a lot of repetition, this is one of the drawbacks to series. They need to be accessible to anyone picking up any segment of the story. In that regard, I think Eirik does a great job. As usual, some of my favorite lines include: They had initially intended to harvest rainfall, but it turned out that orphan tears worked just as well. And there were a lot of orphans. And of course, there was a truly inspired story about how the vat of Susan B. Anthony's genetic make-up was accidentally contaminated by one of Hitler's legs and resulted in a literal femiNazi. There's not much I can add to that. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Another humorous story! Dead Presidents picks up where Book 1 left off. Thor and Company are back at the Secaucus Holiday Inn dealing with few customers, weird happenings and another apocalypse or two. Or three. I lost count. Anyway, an escaped homicidal Andrew Jackson II decides he needs to eliminate his political competition before running for President even though there is no government to speak of, so he sets a trap for Chester A. Arthur XVII. Thus ensues death, mayhem, destruction, Dunkin Donuts, a butter monster, travel by flamingo and the resurrection of a reconstituted President. Another fast humorous read that had me giggling until the end. If you enjoyed Exponential Apocalypse then you’ll enjoy Dead Presidents. Although I’m still picturing Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Not that that’s a bad thing. And every time Chester A. Arthur is mentioned I think of Die Hard: With A Vengeance. *Many thanks to Jersey Devil Press for providing me with a review copy.
