"He should be dead. I thought I'd killed him. I was wrong."
Three dead Enforcers in three weeks, their bodies butchered. Muse has seen it before, and when she reads the metal memories in the murder weapon, she sees it all again. Her owner, Damien, is back, and he wants what is rightfully his.

Muse escaped him and the netherworld, once before. This time, she's stronger, smarter. This time she knows she has the fires of hell at her fingertips, but so does Damien, and he's not the only one. Akil is weak. No longer a Prince, he needs Muse's limitless power to regain his title. How fortuitous then, that Akil's fate is tied to the one man she cares the most for.

As Muse, Stefan, and Akil battle their own demons, not all will come away victorious. Some choices can never be forgiven. Some lies are never forgotten. Some wounds will never heal.

The description sound awesome but for some reason I just didn't really get into this one. Maybe it wasn't the right time for it. I may give it another shot down the road.

I received an ecopy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.  What can I say about this book, other than the fact I loved it? Well, loads more! For one,the cover is beautiful displaying Muse and her element. If you compare covers from the first in the series (Beyond the Veil) to this one, you can definitely see a change in Muse. The cover is definitely relevant to this story, it gives you a hint about the book. I thought it was wonderfully clever for Mrs. DaCostas to do this.  The writing is incredible. There's so much realistic descriptions intertwined through the story that you can easily get lost in the book. I loved the fact that when something was described it was simple and easily recognized. For example, when something smelled, she used simple things like the smell of a penny or something like that so you knew what she was talking about. There's also a lot of world building as well that goes into the book, which helps to clarify why Muse had it so rough. It's a rare talent to be able to put a huge amount of detail down without it feeling overwhelming or unnecessary. Mrs. DaCosta has nailed that nailed down.  The characters themselves have gone through a drastic change since the first book. Some for the better, some for the worse. My favorite aspect was seeing Muse start to grow into herself and take more control over her demon. It wasn't a sudden change, it happened gradually, but it really resonated with me because it felt natural. I liked the fact that even though as a person she was growing stronger and starting to heal, she still had to back peddle every once in awhile. It was very real, and believable. As for Akil, well it was about time someone knocked him down a peg;). When it came to Stefan, I'm completely torn. It's a thrill to see how he has changed and what he has become, but it's so different that it was a shocker!  I absolutely adored this book and this series so far. It's unlike anything I've read before and probably will read for awhile. The writing is clever, witty and very addicting. Once you start this book your not gonna want to put it down. I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, or just wants a real heroine.
