Writing style is very important to me, and when the author fails to capture my attention, then the content deteriorates as well. The book reverses societal expectation and order by living life according to the decision of the dice based upon the options you give it. So every decision is attached to chance. Interesting idea, unlike anything I have ever considered, but it simply goes too far. But one good point he made was that every person has multiple personalities and society tries to suppress them all except for one, and the dice playing game tries to break such a pattern. Overall, I was able to gain a new perspective. It is certainly an influential read, but not the best. There are bits and pieces of good lines that make you stop and reflect.

Makes you think about man's destiny and his desire/ability to influence it in the age of Chaos Theory. Brilliant parody of modern day psychology. If there is any criticism I would say it would have benefitted from less emphasis on the sexual theme, although that is somewhat nitpicking. Read it now!

I read this book when came out first, 1971 publish in England. I think is everybodys dream to live like that. and see what life next stage is going to be. At the same time the pen name is very much to the attraction of the book. Another one that is very good is The Book of the Dice, by the same writer. Drugs, sex and RR make in the late 60s and this is what is all about taking chances with life, that most of us do every day no matter what, just crossing the road, driving. Is well worth and good for the spirit if you have one of course.

This is definitely listed among my list of top novels. The author writes in such a way that I couldn't stop reading and laughing, yet being deeply effected at the same time. I don't know how much longer I can last until I succumb to the temptation of rolling the dice.

This is no ordinary book, nothing like Oprah's stuff or other best sellers; this is the most satirical and anarchist book I've ever read, it's funny, sexy, totally bright and my god I enjoy so much the entire reversal of the social order !!
