Divine and Dateless by Tara West

Divine and Dateless by Tara West
Good girls go to Heaven. Bad girls go all the way...

What can be worse than electrocuting yourself while getting ready for your Internet date? Realizing the hot stud you've been fondling is the Grim Reaper? Being chased by a sex-crazed bloated, naked corpse?

How about an eternity of more bad hair days and horrific dates? Or lusting after the one guy in all the afterlife whose hydrophobia rivals his fear of commitment?

Yeah, that's a whole lot worse.

I really wanted to enjoy this and I almost did.. A lot of it was crass, however, without the bennefit of being funny. The thing that killed it for me the most was my inability to like the lead female, or in fact any of the characters. Almost all of them (even the ones from the upper levels) lacked empathy, depth, character, or bravery. Where were the characteristics that made these heaven-bound characters the best of our species? If being extremely selfless and kind were the necessary vehicles for progression in her version of heaven/wheel of reincarnation than the author failed miserably. All of the characters, save Grim, were simply masking a selfish, miserable, self-centered core with their limited, mostly pointless, unsacrificinghollow acts of disinterested acts of kindness as if sharing a meal for a score card system could somehow make up for their years of not alleviating suffering on earth.

Oh my word! I laughed, dreamed and desired right along with the story. It’s funny, says everything we think but aren’t brave enough to say aloud, and makes me want to know more about all the levels of this series.

This book is sexy, funny, totally irreverent look into death and the afterlife! Her characters are larger than life with a really healthy sex drive, even those who've been around hundreds of years. It's a blast! Enjoy.

It was unique story for afterlife romance. I haven't read stories that are like that. So I give it 4 stars for original concept of it. The flow of the story was good til to end.

Have you ever enjoyed a book so much, you get irritated when it is finished? You keep on flipping pages, even after the story is over, hoping to catch even just one more little tidbit?  THIS is that book.  Tara West outdid herself with her new novel. The story narrates Ash's raucous romp through the Afterlife, complete with skeevy pervs, sexy Grims, and the most loyal companion a girl could want.  Divine and Dateless is hilarious and fun story, that connects you to the characters more than you would imagine. Absolutely worth the read!

Oh what can I say ? Let me start by saying I Love Tara West and her style of writing, whether it be from her YA Paranormal to this new series of Paranormal Romantic Comedy. Tara is great in any Genre she writes in and I'm so Honored to be right along with her for the ride. I won't give out too much on this series, but here is a little: Ashley MacLeod has found her self in Heaven, after a mishap with a blow dryer, but she does not know she is dead,YET. Once the Grim AKA Aedan O'Conner shows up,she still does not believe it and thinks he is just her blind date, not a dead date, until well, she trips over own body lying in the bathroom, with hair so fried,it looks like a fan.... If you want more, you must wait until July 21,2014. This is when this New Series comes to life,Just look at the reviews from the BETA readers already on this great new novel, don't just take my word for it or theirs,Mark your calendar and get it the day it comes back and come back and let your thoughts be wrote in a review on this awesome book. You will not want to miss this New series from Tara.I promise it will have you LOLin' and in just Awe. All I can say is if Heaven is this way ,Well I'm all for it and ready to go  This Paranormal Romantic Comedy will have you begging for more.

OMG I loved, loved, loved this book. It had me laughing so hard I was crying!  It is just that good.  A book hasn’t made me laugh this much in a very long time! Tara West does it again.  This book sucks you in from word one.  There is more than just comedy to this book  as well. It will put you on a roller coaster ride you don’t want to get off of.  There are emotional highs and lows, laughter and tears, good and evil,  oh…and did I forget to mention Hot Sex?    Just what every great book needs and Tara filled them ¿ So let your fingers do the walking and one click the pre-order button and I’ll see you on level 13.   Wonder what I’m talking about?  Buy it and find out!

I was lucky enough to read this book in advance. Ashley (Ash)has found herself in purgatory. According to Grim, aka the Grim Reaper, has informed her that her only chance of reaching heaven is by earning points. Ash runs into some funny roadblocks that will have you in tears from laughing. Tara's new series is off with a bang. I can't wait for the next book.

I am a HUGE fan of Tara West’s contemporary. So when I found out about this new paranormal, I was intrigued. I am picky when it comes to paranormal. I can’t get into all of them. But since I enjoy Tara’s writing so much, I decided to dive in and give it a chance. And I am SO glad I did! Divine and Dateless is one of those books where you lose yourself in. You get a comfy spot, maybe your favorite candy and you sit there and not move until you get to the very last page. The humor, sarcasm, and wit had me dying with laughter. Anyone that came near me and my kindle got the evil ‘leave me alone’ stare. I knew from the first page my afternoon was gone. The synopsis doesn’t even give you an idea of what you’re in for, so I won’t either. That will be a disservice to the reader. So why read this book? Ash. She is so fun, sassy, feisty, and one of my favorite characters. We meet her as she is getting ready for a blind date. Circumstances lead her to Grim. Yes as in the Grim Reaper. Ha! He was so much fun. And I absolutely loved him. Divine and Dateless had all the humor, love, and steam I have been looking for in a read. The moment I picked this up, Tara has solidified herself on my ‘buy anything she writes shelf’. This talented writer can write anything, whether it’s contemporary or paranormal. Her writing is flawless, her character development impeccable, and her story telling ability is top notch. If you love paranormal, romance, humor, and just a well written story, I highly recommend you pick up Divine and Dateless. Cannot wait to see what else is in store for the remainder of the series.

Wow is one word to say about this story, amazing, funny, family,friends,soul-mates could be some more. i fell in love with the book as soon as i started reading it. The book follows Ashley "Ash" MacLeod finding out she died after getting zapped by her blow dryer, meeting the grim reaper wasn't what Ash was thinking when she answered the door thinking that her blind date was early, when she opened the door to find a sexy man in jeans wanting to take er somewhere but little did she know she would have to wait to find her soulmate until after she died, Aedan "Grim" O'Conner was old fashion in more then one way, he showed her how the levels worked in Purgatory.  i dont want to say to much about it or give anything away but once you start reading in you will not want to put in down. this is the first book of the series so once you are done reading this there will be more to come and you will be wanting more i promise. I am a big fan of Tara West work and have read all her work and they are all equally as good as this one.   Im giving this book a 5 reader rating as i just couldnt get enough of it.
