In book two of The Wraith Kings, EIDOLON, Brishen finds himself suddenly thrust onto a throne he never wanted after his evil mother unleashed literal hell upon the realm. In a bid for more power, the Shadow Queen Secmis, invoked a spell freeing the Galla, nightmarish creatures who only devour and destroy. All of Brishen’s family appears lost so he and his human wife, Ildiko, not only have to rule the Kai, but prepare for the battle of their lives. To add to their misery, Ildiko knows kings need heirs; she cannot give him one since they are a different species. What is a woman willing to do for a man whom she loves more than life itself? For Brishen, Ildiko will do anything and everything no matter how heartrending or devastating to her personally. Brishen must not only make hard choices for his people including taking something vital from them. He also needs alliances with other enemy kingdoms as well as willingly risk his own body and immortal soul with an old magic which raises an army from the departed. As the transformed Wraith leader of this army, Brishen plunges into a battle that will test all of his courage and skills. Ildiko loves her husband with every fiber of her being. She has done everything she can to be a good helpmate in presiding over the people of his territory. Ildiko understands that to whom much is given much is required and willingly sacrifices abundantly for a people who often do not accept her as one of their own especially once she is called Queen. Ildiko fights battles on several fronts. She is trying to support her husband, run a castle, and provide for refugees while dodging assassins set upon her by nobles who are engaging in political maneuvering. I became very attached to Brishen and Ildiko in the first book, RADIANCE, and so was most glad to be with them again. In the end, it is their deep and abiding love for each other that gives them courage to not only endure but to triumph. This story has all the elements of high fantasy that will please the reader; action, adventure, heart wrenching situations, and a love story that gives the book great heart. Ms. Draven has created quite a fascinating and enchanting world.

Ildiko & Brishen are one of my favorite couples and after reading EIDOLON, my love for them doubled. Grace Draven blew my mind with the continuation of RADIANCE. I loved learning about the creation of the Wraith Kings and all the new characters & their help in aiding with the battle against the galla. The ending really had me on the edge of my seat & I loved the conclusion to these two lovers. Can’t wait for the next Wraith Kings book.

I swoon for happy endings and true love and I'm not ashamed! Haha If you read the first book, Radiance and ignore the final chapter then you can enjoy it as a standalone, however if you do choose to read that dark twist at the end then this book will not disappoint as a sequel. It's full of dark magic, politics, and twisted fates, but thankfully it ends in happiness like a proper fantasy romance fairytale haha (And I don't consider telling you that there is a happy ending a spoiler because if you're here for the love story of Brishen and Ildiko then it's simply a relief lol) If you enjoyed Radiance then you will surely enjoy this as a sequel however I do love how it’s an optional continuation. Radiance is my favorite between the two but I did enjoy this as a good sequel to their story. Definitely check out Grace Draven’s books if you’re in the mood to swoon over a romance in the fantasy genre!

Eidolon starts right where Radiance leaves off and with the evil Shadow Queen releasing a demon horde in the world.  This horde is so malevolent it devours and destroys everything in its path and non-can stop it, except a Wraith King.   Brishen and Ildiko live's change quickly with Brishen being Monarch of his race.  Decisions need to be made the toughest being Ildiko because a Monarch must have heirs and the union between human and Kai is fruitless.  But first, the demons must be defeated before their ceaseless hunger devours the world.    Brishen proves what a truly brave and honorable Kia he is with his sacrifice and willingness to lead the charge against the demons by becoming a Wraith King.  However, he refuses to give up his love, his life, his wife, his Ildiko.  And I loved that about him.   Ildiko is going to stay strong and do what is needed for Brishen, even if that requires her stepping down on no longer being his queen.  She is willing to make that sacrifice for him.  Whatever he needs, she will do for her Brishen. Eidolon is full of sacrifice, bravery, duty, and soul deep love, this is a book that I really loved and I can’t wait for more in this series.  I am giving it 5 Boundless Stars

Wonderfully written continuation of ildiko's & breshen's story. Magical, passionate, full of political intrigue that surrounds the royal court. If possible, their love for each other has grown, their emotions & what they are become even more complex, intense, & full of strength. Ildiko is torn because she cannot give him a child, as tradition demands an heir from breshen when he thru tragic circumstances becomes king of the kai. Breshen is wonderful. A loving husband who adores her & is not ashamed to show it, to her or any of the kai who still have not accepted her. He is so sweet & calls her "his pretty hag".

Eagerly awaited the sequel and was not disappointed. The author weaves a story that is lyrical in her prose as well as entertaining. The author is not clear in explaining the inability of the main characters to have children. They have the ability to enjoy sex, so what's stopping them to procreate? I understand that for this plot, it served the story to have a surviving member of the Royal family relieve the main characters of the burdens of ruling, as well as delivering closure to Brishen. I think a follow up story could be the courtship of the secondary characters, Brishen's cousin and the Beladine Stallion, with a definitive, conclusive explanation of whether the Kai and humans can or can't have children. In other stories, especifically Dracunus by the author, a dragon and a human have a child. Elves and humans have children, dragons and humans have children, aliens and humans have children, why not the Kai and humans? I enjoyed the story and can sincerely say that I can't wait for another published work from this author.
