No matter how earthly the poems of Eduardo Lizalde might appear, he never stops ascending because he is born of rock, and communes with rock, transforming it into the core from which the poems in this anthology emerge. To say that Lizalde is one of the key poetic voices in the Spanish language would sound commonplace; his poetry is architecture, solidly constructed, and whose wide naves are supported by the traditions of Blake, Rilke, Machado, and Pellicer, among others.
