It's about time this old classic had come back to print. Like with Key's previous Forgotten Door, it should have stayed in print. Sure, it was made into a Disney movie. Yet this book's a little better. It's short, concise, tightly constructed, and fast paced. Definitely worthy of the reading public on a fast track society. It may be a bit dated, but still relevant for today and in the future. The characterizations are brief but the reader can still relate. Tony and Tia may garner some sympathy, but make no mistake, they're no push-overs. It is science fiction with hardly any "hard science". So what? The characters are believable. It does touch on themes of prejudice, loyalty, nature exploitation, and so forth. Still, a fun read.

The movie Return to Witch Mountain is a sequal to the original 70s movie based on this book under the same title. As is the norm for all movies based on literature, obviously things are at least a little tweaked.

First, if you haven't read Escape to Witch Mountain, I highly recommend it. The story of two "outsiders" fleeing hatred, bigotry to find a family and the ability to be accepted for who they are is still haunting. It's a quick read and the target audience is grades 3-6 but is enjoyable by adults as well. Now, the bad. This Nook edition is riddled with errors. On the Android reader, the first paragraph came out black text on black background (I have it in night mode). It did display on the PC Reader, however, two more short paragraphs down, an entire paragraph is missing from the text that was in the original. The errors go on with misspellings, words incorrectly transcribed all throughout. I would give the actual physical book 5 stars. Unfortunately, the eBook is more expensive than you can find a copy for of this and does not faithfully bring you the same text. For that I have to rate the ebook 1 star.
