I've had this book for a while and always meant to read it immediately after reading Ever Shade but for some reason it didnt work out that way. I really do wish I had been able to read them all back to back, because I just could not step away from Shade's story. This one is set just a little after Ever Shade, with Dylan living with Shade and her family (being her personal bodyguard) and Shade taking regular lessons in all things Faerie, from learning magic to battle skills. Drawn into yet another adventure Shade is torn between wanting to protect her human family and helping her Fae friends. Shade grows a lot in this book and she finally learns about her faerie magic.  As you would expect from the second book in a series, this one jumps straight in, with no hanging about trying to fill you in on back story. There is almost no slow points to the story so its easy to just continue reading (unless you have a houseful of people who think because your 'just' reading means your not doing anything important).  My only issue with this series is I have to wait until next year for the next installment Ever Winter

Before I could read this, I read Evangeline and Ever Shade, and I really loved them! But, with Ever Fire, my love didn't carry over. Shade was just too whiny and bratty; it bordered on pathetic! She was so much more confident in Ever Shade! Shade in this book was just a disappointment. I do still like this series because I really like the world it takes place in, and I love the visual imagery the author creates. I will read the next books in the series, and I have already bought them and started book 3. There is another thing I just can't stand in a book, and as I continue to read the series I see it happening in this series; I'm not going to use names, but this may be a slight spoiler I hate when a character tells another they love them and will always be there, and then it doesn't work out for them, and that character that professed their love, falls in love with someone else in no time! It's a good thing you didn't get picked! since your love is so fickle! I hate that! I'm hoping the next books redeem the series for me, and I still enjoy reading the books.

Alexia Purdy Ever Fire A Dark Faerie Tale #2 This series is definitely getting better as it goes on. Easy to read, the story flows and although not all the characters from Ever Shade make a huge appearance in this book, with so much going on you won’t notice if your favourite isn’t in the thick of things. Shade finally learns some of her heritage, and it is all starting to come together, although her feelings are still very confused and I’m not sure I could decide who to choose. Now to jump straight into Ever Winter. I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

There is no need to write paragraph after paragraph about a book or series. Yes there are some editing errors, so what. This book is both entertaining and well worth the time to read. I found it to be very enjoyable, moving, and heartwarming. The entire series was well thought out and either full of action or heartwarming dialogue. There were no wasted pages or mundane reading. Thank you Alexia.

Wonderful read about the Fae. Ever continues her journey not knowing exactly what that means. I love anything about Fae and this definitely didn't disappoint.

Alexia Purdy's Ever Fire picks up after Shade has fulfilled her harrowing tasks in book one. Back in the human world and still blood bound to the slightly softening, but still brooding Dylan, the war in Faerie wages on, good vs evil, and the cold of winter is spreading. The threat to the human world looms ever closer and Shade needs to perform another task in order to help save the world. Have her powers grown enough to prepare her for what lies ahead? Will she learn her true heritage? Will Shade finally meet some of her fae family? Shade has gained so much, but her losses are also growing as she steels herself for another battle, she is coming into herself with more confidence and determination. Now, if her heart could only make up its mind... Again, in an eloquently detailed world, Alexia Purdy guides both the reader and our heroine through the treacherous battles ahead, the joy of finding family, the pain of loss, the need to be strong and move on as time is running out for the Seelie Courts and the cold death of the Unseelie spreads. Still appropriate for younger YA readers, Alezia Purdy fills each page with fantasy, action and the determination of one young girl to save both of her worlds. Wonderful reading, faster-paced than book one, but just as entrancing. A wonderful escape into another realm! 4.5 stars! I received this copy from Indie Inked in exchange for my honest review.

Title: Ever Fire - A Dark Faerie Tale Book 2 Author: Alexia Purdy Published: 9-12-2012 Publisher: Indie Ink Pages: 230 Genre: SciFi & Fantasy Sub Genre: Teen & Young Adult; Fairy Tales; Folklore; Adaption; ISBN: 13: 9781476433486 ASIN: B0095ZIBIY Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley Rating: 4.5 Stars I received a copy of "Ever Fire" from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review. Publisher's Description: This is book 2 of A Dark Faerie Tale Series. Book 1 Ever Shade is FREE on all sales channels. Magic & Fire burn... The Serenity of the Land of Faerie is threatened as the Unseelie Queen Aveta rages war against the three remaining Seelie Realms of Faerie. As Shade's powers grow, she finds she is running out of time to keep the war from spilling into the human world. Winter is growing in strength as the evil Queen's horrifying legions scar the land in their frigid wake. No one is safe. Shade becomes enemy number one for the Unseelie legions. Questioning her true role of power, Shade discovers the cost of winning may come at a much higher price than she ever imagined. My Review: I definitely recommend reading book one, "Ever Shade" before reading book two "Ever Fire". Which is available for free in e-book format at the time of this posting on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble. My nieces (Ages 13,14 & 16) and I read this book I will say the enjoyed it more than I did. I found it a bit busy. They enjoyed seeing the different relationships. I had trouble keeping them straight. Alexia Purdy has brought the world of Shade to life. I was pulled into that world with Purdy's words and vibrant personalities of Shade and the others in Ever Shade"; continuing into Ever Fire; I loved the long talks with my nieces over the books and how they truly understood the characters and their lives. They became part of the story and invested in the outcome. Well written and a great read for teens. My rating of "Ever Fire" is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Enjoyed this 2nd installment. Moves fast, yes our heroine is a bit of a cry baby but it works with the story. Ready for the next adventure.

4.5 stars Worth Reading... Total Pages: 185; Story Pages: 175 Book 2 of this series. Really like this series. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5-star review is the fact there are words missing sometimes, which can make some things hard to understand (I have to go back and read the sentence again to figure out what word is missing so the sentence makes sense).

I love this story. Just when you think you got it, it changes on you and you have to keep reading to get to the truth. The characters are very believable as everyday people. When you add the supernatural to regular problems all goes crazy. Quite fun to watch happen (or read as is the case). On to the next chapter in the saga, yeah me!!!
