I was completely hooked on this small town and everyone in it and all their drama in ‘A Slow Burn’, a quick half-hour read that had SO MUCH going on in it. This book keeps the pace and pretty much picks up where the other left off. Jackson and Annabelle are trying to make it work and clearly have deep feelings for one another, despite each one’s hesitation to admit it to the other. Jackson’s past shows up to haunt him, bringing Annabelle’s claws out AND Annabelle’s got a frienemy who only adds to the drama level. Just when things start to smooth out for the pair, or seem like they might anyway, all hell breaks loose. Eden had already set the stage and developed the characters and the entire world really well. We get to see them more in-depth here and they’re all on point with what we saw previously. There are laugh-out-loud moments, cringe-worthy drama, that I cannot get enough of, catfights and more all within this lovable and uniquely wacky small town. I cannot absorb the pages of this series fast enough! The editing could use some help. POV is fine, we get hers first-person and his third-person. It’s different and I like it. What I have a bit of a hard time with, is the tense isn’t consistent and there are instances of poor grammar and incorrect punctuation. However, it doesn’t change the message or scene at all, so you can still completely get lost in this book. There’s a pretty high heat index and what I like about the sex scenes in this book, besides their hotness, is that they aren’t the same old tired sex scenes I feel like I read over and over again. There’s a twist or two as well and as someone who predicts everything, I love this hard. It’s probably around 4 stars for me and would go up to 5 with another pass by a proofreader. Amazing read.
Tigris Eden knocked this one out of the ball park. I was at the end before I was ready to be. I have not been left wonderfully hanging in a very long time. The chemistry between the couple was steamy and hot. Both characters were head strong and that made for their love worth fighting for. Annabelle fight scenes were so real I was laughing wishing I could have been there. Jackson love for her was so strong that not even the nasty women in his life could tear him away from Annabelle. No spoilers but the ending will make you want to contact the writer asking for the rest right now.
OH MY GOODNESS!! I swear I am not going to throw a tantrum but I seriously want to. For-real!!! Cliffhanger totally a kick in the lady parts!!! Plus I got to read this book waaay early and now I have a longer wait then the rest of the world. *Bursts into tears*. Okay okay I’m better now let’s move on to the review and past my emotional state. Jackson and Annabelle are an adorable and sexy couple who aren’t without their issues. Jackson is the Sheriff of Beauville and wants Annabelle to move back home and in with him, and he isn’t going to take no for an answer. Annabelle has worked hard for her career and wants to make sure she’s made it before she heads back home. The two of them are known for heated arguments and passionate hot make up sex, lots of it. When everything seems to be working out for them obstacles the size of continents begin rising up and threatening to break them apart. It was so insane with everything that happened. So much happens and yet it didn’t feel overwhelming, just like OMG WHAT ELSE COULD GO WORSE!! It was great. Annabelle is a great character; she’s sassy, funny quick witted, a southern belle, and a little bit of a diva. I love how she stands up for what she believes in and even when Jackson tries to push her over on stuff she stands firm…some of the time. Annabelle is just an all around amazing, strong and independent woman. She takes care of everyone around her. I just love Annabelle. Jackson is a total and complete swoon worthy jerk sometimes. First off Jackson is beyond hot, total drool worthy sex machine material. That being said, he can be a complete and total A-hole. He’s insensitive at times, when he doesn’t get what he wants he figures out was to get it and he’s a bit of an overlord on everything. Now I know I just listed a boat load of qualities that sound really unappealing and I’m not going to say Jackson’s sex appeal makes up for him being a troll sometimes, but since we get his POV in this book I now have more insight into who he is and how much he really cares about the people around him even though he comes across as calloused. I think I like him because despite him being rude sometimes he’s realistic and honest. He always says what he means and is always himself so I have to give him credit for that. To be honest I was nervous to start this book since it seemed like in the novella that it was going to be a insta-love everything is rainbows book. I should have known better. Tigris Eden would never do something so terrible. This amazing author crafted a southern story so well. I loved how amazing this story was, never a dull moment. This story kept me on my toes and at the edge of my seat. Can’t wait for book two and this book gets extra double points for an interracial couple. If you are into sexy hot scenes you need to get all up in this book. If you’re into books that will keep you on your toes with guessing what will happen next then you need to read this book. If you like characters who have great chemistry, arguments, and great banter then you need to read this book.
OMG!!! This book is HOT!!! There is a lot of drama occurring, mainly because of Jackson's previous conquests, some of their family and friends contributed as well. I love Anna's personality. She overcomes her insecurities and doesn't allow people to walk all over her. She's a tough, "nerdy" chick. Jackson is just damn sexy with his alpha self, though he was a jerk at times. It ends in a HUGE cliffhanger!!! So be warned! **I received an e-ARC from by the author in exchange for an honest review.**
