Brilliantly, this series is written across the gaps in real historical documentation, in a time period that leaves much to the imagination. To take a kingdom that existed in the same era as Camelot, which has been done a thousand times, and make it come alive was simply genius. The characters are as complex as real people, and the story leaves no questionable turns - even the tragedies feel like they belong perfectly. This is one of those stories that makes each character easy to hate and to love at the same time - it was difficult to squelch my desire to speed-read - but it was worth savoring! I cannot wait to see more of this genre from Jayden Woods.

This is a great book about the end of the Viking age. I recommend it for anyone who wants to read about late Viking history or dark ages England but wants something exciting and fast-paced. I do not think Godric was a real person but there are a lot of real historical people in the story and it makes the story more believable.
