Overview

Gods and Ends by Devon Monk

Keep your gods close and your monsters closer...

Police Chief Delaney Reed thinks she knows all of Ordinary, Oregon's secrets. Gods on vacation, lovelorn ghosts, friendly neighborhood monsters? Check.

But some secrets run deeper than even she knows. To take down an ancient vampire hell-bent on revenge, she will have to make the hardest decision of her life: give up the book of dark magic that can destroy them all, or surrender her mortal soul.

As she weighs her options, Delaney discovers she can no longer tell the difference between allies keeping secrets and enemies telling the truth. Questioning loyalties and running out of time, Delaney must choose sides before a kidnapping turns into murder, before rival crochet and knit gangs start a war, and before the full moon rises to signal the beginning of Ordinary's end.

Awesome book, great series

Reader alert, you must read the previous books in the series or you will be lost. It took forever to get through this book because of the very stupid story line. I did like the ending. I do like the concept of the series and the characters but this one just didn't work for me.

Police Chief Delaney Reed and her sisters must stop an ancient vampire from destroying Ordinary, Oregon, where gods lay down their powers to vacation and other paranormal creatures live safely. I have enjoyed this series so far, but this was a hard read because of so much stupid behavior from the main character. Just when I thought she’d reached her limit of stupid behavior, she’d out stupid herself. Despite that, the plot moved briskly, and the secondary characters weren’t stupid.

Loved this b99k, can't wait for the short stories. And hopefully more full length books.

Devon Monkey never fails to hold my attention with her tales. Her prose is both quirky and evocative. Can't read her books fast enough and can barely wait for the next one.

There was nothing ordinary about this book. Very unusual storyline, Devon is one strong woman. I'm glad there will be 3 shorts and a couple more full novels in the future.
