Overview

There was no warning. No way to prepare. One might think that the end of the world would come slowly, or loudly, or perhaps so quickly that the end would be a vast dark nothing. One might think there would be news traveling of impending doom. Some hint of how the human race would die. One would think...

The fine blue mist was impossible to see falling from the night sky. It coated everything in its path: houses, cars, toys left in yards by children, the ground. By sunrise, it would be impossible to detect. The veil of toxic substance was thin, but it was enough to do the harm for which it was intended. Anyone unlucky enough to be outside at the time of contamination would die. The airplanes that flew that night would be some of the last.

The darkness of night would give way to morning light, as it always had. People would awake in search of a lazy weekend breakfast. Mothers would begin preparing children for a day of play. Dogs would whine to go outside. The dead would rise.

Zoe's been on her own since she was a teenager, when tragedy took her family. Living in a remote small town, she withdrew from society. Her longtime friend, Adam Boggs, left her even more broken when he left for college and stopped answering her calls and letters. When he's back in town for a visit, they attempt to reconcile. The next morning brings an end to life as they knew it.

Fleeing for safety, they soon cross paths with other survivors. It doesn't take long until they realize that the dead are not the only things to fear.

Book one of the Grace Series. Intended for mature audiences. Series should be read in order. A portion of all proceeds of this series will be donated to Strong Against Cancer - helping find a cure for childhood cancer.

I really enjoyed the book. A lot of people are complaining about too much sex, but it's not as much as they make it sound. I liked the Zoe and zombie connection as well as the zombies abilities. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was because of the writing errors and it was too short.

except lots of sex. Couple of interesting ideas on zombie abilities, though. Too short to develop same. Am not going to spend any $$ on further books - my eyes hurt from rolling so hard at awkward phrasing + dialog. D from C

I loved this series of books. Didn't want to put them down! My only problem was the cost of each book, first one was free, by the last one was $5.99 and only 160 pages. Either write more pages or make the books Cheaper!

For a zombie book this was about as satisfying as watered down kool aid. The characters spend their time talking about sex, having sex and thinking about sex throughout the story. Not what normal survivors would do while trying to escape and stay safe. The women are so weak I wanted to use them for zombie bait. The men, well if you removed the zombies...and the setting was in the covered wagon days of the wild west, maybe they'd be cowboys...but even that's a generous stretch. One of the female characters said the word 'kay instead of okay so often I thought she might be mentally slow. It was 206 pages of trying to find something about this book I could sink my teeth into other than the main characters. A warning to other readers of this genre...stay away from this one. Jp

The plot is strong, but I still don't know how the group is going to survive. Interesting read.

Very unnerving book if you allow yourself to be caught up in the story line of the main characters especially if you find yourself considering for even a moment what you would do if the events described in this book were possible.

Awesome and intense gore and zombie violence. Does contain intense sex scenes. If you are a fan of zompoc this is a MUST READ. Each book in the series only gets better.

New take on the zombie scenario. These zombies can think, make plans and carry them out. This makes them even more creepy!
